Patriots Get the Blowout Win Over Detroit

Believe it or not, it was 19 years since my dad and I went to a Patriots regular season game; they ended up beating the Tennesse Titans that day and would win 21 straight games after that. Today we went to the game and couldn’t ask for a better day or game. The Patriots showed up and dominated on defense and didn’t make mistakes on offense for the most part. Matthew Judon should be a captain on this team he’s having a great season so far. Even Stevenson also did a great job running the ball, especially after Harris left the game.

Patriots Get A Huge Win Over The Lions

Bailey Zappe had a great game and made zero mistakes. The interception was on Nelson Agholor for dropping the pass. Overall, Zappe played the game well, and you have to credit Bill Belichick, Matt Patricia, and Joe Judge for getting him ready. Did he take Mac Jones’ job? Absolutely not The Patriots last shutout win was 2016 with Jacoby Brissett. Nobody was calling for Tom Brady’s job after that shutout, and nobody should be calling for Jones’ job today.

You would you start next week Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe? If Mac is ready to go then he should be playing period. If he isn’t ready then play Zappe, honestly it doesn’t matter if it’s Zappe or Jones either one of them in the game should be a Patriots win. There is no quarterback controversy Jones also beats the Lions today. The defense dominated and the offense limited the mistakes. Do people forget the Jones was the best rookie quarterback in the league last year? Mac is the starter Zappe is the backup he took Brian Hoyer’s job.

The Detroit Lions went for it on fourth down six times today and went 0-6. Very reckless for head coach Dan Campbell to go for it at times during the game. One even led to a strip sack led by Judon and a pickup from Kyle Dugger for a touchdown. Devin McCourty spoke after the game about the win.

“The big down of that was understanding, if you watched the third downs, we’re in the huddle and saying, ‘Hey, this isn’t the end, they’re going to go for it on fourth down.’ They’ve done that all year,” safety Devin McCourty said. “I think that was a big part of the preparation, everyone was ready to go after getting a third-down stop.“I’m calling guys back in the huddle. Sometimes you get in those situations, guys are like, ‘How is it going? How…?’ We didn’t have to rush anything. We were locked in and ready to go, and we were able to execute and play good defense in those situations. Those are huge plays in the game, especially those fourth-down stop in the red area where they could kick a field goal … That kind of kills momentum and morale.”

Judon Should Be A Capitan on the Patriots

Jack Jones had another interception today and is proving to be a great cornerback. Now, when it comes time to re-up his contract, I’m sure the Patriots won’t pay him just like J.C. Jackson, Stephon Gilmore, etc. Bill Belichick if he’s still coaching by then, probably would rather draft a cornerback than pay one out the nose.

Patriots win today was really needed. You didn’t want to go 1-4 on the season and having to travel to Cleveland with a very much needed must-win. This Patriots stretch of games should be wins all of them. The teams they play Browns, Bears, Jets, and Colts. All of them aren’t very good teams.
