The Baltimore Ravens were able to get back on track after a 41-17 victory over their division rivals, the Cleveland Browns, in Week 2, and now the Ravens are getting ready for a Monday night showdown with the Detroit Lions in Week 3 in Baltimore.
Both the Baltimore Ravens and Detroit Lions are coming into this week’s 3rd match-up both 1-1 after both beat a division rival by at least two touchdowns in week 2. The Ravens had a nice bounce-back game as they dominated their opponents, the Browns, by the score of 41-17. The Ravens beat the Browns not by running the ball but by throwing the ball, as Lamar Jackson had a big day in the air, throwing four touchdown passes. And, the defense also made some big plays as well to secure the win.
On the other hand, the Detroit Lions beat their NFC North rivals, the Chicago Bears, by the score of 52-21. Jared Goff had a monster of a game as he completed 23/28 and threw five touchdowns in the demolition of the Chicago Bears, and three of those went to WR Amon-Ra St.Brown. And the running game was also great for the Lions, as they had two rushing touchdowns from both Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. The Lions will have a tough matchup going into Baltimore on Monday, as the Ravens will be in their blackout uniforms.
Coming into week 3 of this young season, both the Ravens and the Lions looked to continue their momentum as both teams are looking for their 2nd win of the season. The Ravens will look to get back on track with running the football, which is the Ravens’ key to their success on Offense, starting with Derrick Henry, who only had 23 yards on the ground, and will be hungry to run the ball against the Lions. Zay Flowers looks to continue his fantastic start in year 3, and Lamar Jackson looks to continue his path to a potential 3rd league MVP of his career.
While on the Detroit side, their offense is one of the best-balanced offenses in the entire NFL, and they looked for Jared Goff to continue his hot start at quarterback, but he will have a tough matchup this week against a Ravens defense that made some big plays, including a touchdown. They also have an outstanding running back tandem in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery. If they can use them properly against this Ravens defense on Monday night, then they have a chance against the Ravens in Baltimore. And, if Amon-Ra St. Brown can make some plays against this Ravens secondary, then St.Brown would make life easier for Jared Goff on Monday night. One thing that Detroit does very well is protecting their quarterback, Detroit has one of the best OLs in the NFL led by all pro tackle Penei Sewell, who so far hasn’t allowed a sack through the first 2 weeks of the season, and with the pass rush of Baltimore not up to speed this could a field day for Jared Goff and that Detroit offense.
This game has the potential to be a high-scoring affair as both the Ravens and the Lions know how to put points on the board. Both offenses are phenomenal and exciting to watch, and if one of the teams can make the fewest mistakes in turning the ball over, then that team will win this game. The Ravens have a much more offensive team than the Lions, mainly because of #8 Lamar Jackson and #22 Derrick Henry running the ball. And with it being a blackout game where the Ravens will be wearing all black, it’s a primetime game. The Ravens and Lamar Jackson always shine in prime time games, and that will be the difference in this game at the end. And don’t be surprised if both teams score at least 30 points in this game on Monday night.
