The Patriots Best Receiver On Sunday Will Be A Sixth Round Draft Pick

The Patriots play the Commanders on Sunday with their best receiver being Demario Douglas. A sixth-round draft pick in this year’s draft. With Kendrick Bourne on injured reserve and DeVante Parker out with a concussion. It’s up to useless JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kayshon Boutte who didn’t keep both feet in bounds during the Eagles game, Demario Douglas who shows promise, and Tyquan Thorton who is questionable with an ankle injury. That goes to show you Belichick hasn’t done enough on the offensive side of the ball. He still thinks they have Brady and Mac can lift guys around him. What Belichick doesn’t understand is quarterbacks today can’t do that. They need everything to be perfect around them. 

 The Patriots will need a lot of help from their young receivers on Sunday 

So on Sunday, you will probably see a lot of dropped passes, Mac not having enough time, and the receivers won’t be able to separate. It will feel more like a preseason game than a regular-season game. Not sure how many times I have to say that if you put any quarterback on this team the results would be what Mac gets. Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki aren’t enough to get the job done on offense. Unless Smith-Schuster decides to show up on Sunday it might be a long game. If Demario Douglas shows promise and gets open a lot his speed might be a factor tomorrow. Mac Jones said this week that the young guys will have to step up.

 Yeah, for sure. I think this week of practice will be really good to see who wants it, who wants to go out there and compete, and who wants to pay attention to the details and work to get on the same page, the spacing, the depth, the splits, and all that stuff. As a quarterback, that’s what I’m going to focus on is helping them understand how important that is for me to have success, and that ultimately gives them success. We’re talking through that, and like you said, there’s plenty of guys that we have –young guys, guys like JuJu [Smith-Schuster]. There’s all sorts of guys, so looking forward to just practicing and ironing out the details.

According to Belichick Boutte had his best week of practice.

I think this has probably been his best week, yeah.

Could Belichick be canned if the Patriots lose tomorrow? I don’t think Kraft will fire Belichick mid-season. I’m not sure if he would fire him at all. He seems to talk out of both sides of his mouth. I think the best for Kraft would be to trade Belichick to the Commanders which came out this week. If Belichick wants to break Don Shula’s record he won’t with the Patriots. The Commanders have new ownership and might want to draw people in bringing in Belichick. 

“What I heard over the weekend from someone I know, someone I trust, that made me say, ‘Whoa, that’s interesting,’ is the possibility that the result for the Commanders is a trade with the Patriots for Bill Belichick,” Florio said.

It’s a big game for Belichick and the receivers. If the Patriots win the Commanders can look at it and think Belichick can do a lot with young receivers. It also gives confidence to the young receivers as well. I think nationally people think Belichick is still this genius but don’t realize what his record is without Brady.
