NFL: NFC East Preview

So what’s next for Philadelphia Eagles, after completing a historic season, raising up a long suffering fan base and claiming their first Lombardi trophy in franchise history?

In the NFC East, the best division in the NFL…what do you do for an encore?

You put down the empty champagne bottle and go back to work!

Let the marathon and the overly aggressive couch high fives begin, once again!

With a healthy Carson Wentz, the Eagles are actually looking to field a more talented team than last season’s championship group. Doug Peterson has depth to work with and overall, the Eagles are well positioned to repeat. The Eagles have the luxury of both depth and success at the game’s most important position.

The New York Giants had a nightmare season, but in the NFC East records are to be ignore. The G-Men have Eli Manning and game breaking receiver Odell Beckham. For some bone headed reason Giant’s former head coach Ben McAdoo thought benching one of the sons of the first family of the NFL was a good idea.

Word to the wise, you do not bench a first ballot hall of fame quarterback with two super bowl rings, without consulting with the highest of upper management, ever! Eli has more than earned the right to be treated with all due respect!

The franchise will be looking to return into playoff contention once again, but another losing season will trigger a full rebuild mode.

The Dallas Cowboys do not have proven pass catchers and if anything happens to Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Dak Prescott folds under pressure without him.

Jerry Jones is a very hands owner, but blaming Roger Goodell for his team’s misfortunes was not really smart. The game is won on the field, not in the courtrooms. With the spotlight perpetually shining bright on America’s team it is either eat or be eaten in Dallas. Put aside all off field drama and Dallas will challenge for a wild-card spot.

Washington Redskins completely mismanaged Kirk Cousins’ contract situation, then brought in Alex Smith. I love my DC family, but it seems that ever since the Redskins mismanaged the career of Heisman Trophy winner quarterback Robert Griffin III, the franchise appears to be spinning in circles.

In a loaded NFC East where every team has at least won one Super Bowl, turmoil is not a friend. I’m just not comfortable on the ‘Skins gambling on Alex Smith after all his playoff woes. On the flip side I don’t see much of a difference between Kirk Cousins and Alex Smith.
