The NBA Playoffs start April 13th and will come up quickly and the race for seeding is on since the All-Star game went final a few weeks ago. This week we saw who the real winners of the NBA trade deadline were, and we also have teams some people buried too soon shaking off the dirt and playing good basketball. All that talk about ratings being down and the sky falling has faded to the back of the bus and basketball is taken center stage, which is just the way we real hoop heads like it.
Warriors Come Out And Play:
I thought the Warriors were dead and in rebuild mode. People were working on think pieces on how the team failed him in his later years. They kept their heads above water long enough to make a move for Jimmy Butler and now sit in the number 6 spot and look like a playoff team. I don’t see what Draymond Green sees which is a 5th ring coming his way. Steph Curry is on a roll dropping 50 burgers and having energy in the 4th quarter since Jimmy Butler can carry some of the load. Butler has fit in perfectly adding some much-needed juice and remember the Dubs still have some young guys figuring it out and also injured. With the brand of ball they are currently playing no one wants to play this team.
A Moment For The Fallen:
Injuries are a part of sports. Saying it and typing it doesn’t make it any easier and this week we lost one of the best players in the league. Kyrie Irving is done the season after tearing his ACL in his left knee. In the mold of Kobe Bryant, he still shot his free throws after the injury with tears rolling down his face. And the also injured AD helping him off the floor. The Mavericks have to be studied has a franchise ever fallen so hard so fast as these Mavs have? How does Klay Thompson now feel being on this team? If ever there was a self-written Netflix doc or ESPN 30 for 30 this is it right here. Wishing Kyrie a speedy recovery and comes back to being great. Here is to hoping next season we get fewer season-ending injuries that derail the team’s goals.
We’re Going Streaking:
Well look at what we have here the Lakers are on FIRE and Luka looks better and better in purple and gold (yellow) The Lake Show sits at the number 2 seed out west and improves every game. We saw the level LeBron James was at BEFORE this trade but now he has his mojo back and can pick his spots while Luka is a demon to opponents. I was one of the people who laughed when they brought in the kid from Duke aka JJ Reddick as the head coach. Well, my sincere apologies Mr. Reddick who is coaching his ass off, and also has his team locked in on the defensive end. Can they keep this up in the postseason, we will wait and see on that. The best part of all of this if you are a Lakers fan is you still have two major pieces on the bench. Common sense would say they are only going to get better. When it is money time and you have to pick who to get the ball or focus on an all-time great, or one of the best young players in the world. Good luck to the rest of the NBA with that one.
Are you ready to accept it and admit the Cleveland Cavaliers are legitimate? I am and you should too, the addition of Andre Hunter from the Hawks has been a PERFECT move only adding to a deep squad. Now we all remember past Cavs playoff performances but this looks and feels different than years past. The 12-game winning streak is also showing the rest of the league dudes mean business. Fun weekend coming up with sone great games.
