The WNBA season will resume later this month, as some of the league’s top talent is representing their countries. The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup is underway, and Team USA features its share of veterans. Players like Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young are active, and young stars like Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers are involved as well.
For the players who are not participating, this break is a chance to rest. Teams are preparing for the playoffs, and for those eliminated from playoff contention, this is an opportunity to regroup and finish the season on a decent note. In the Toronto Tempo’s case, they are trying to overcome their struggles.
Toronto is 13th in the league, and the rising team is on another losing streak. The Tempo have lost their last four games, as teams like the Las Vegas Aces and the Phoenix Mercury picked up victories over them. Before that, Toronto beat the Portland Fire.
Tempo Veteran Ends The Streak
Isabelle Harrison was the leading scorer, and she had 25 points. That was a significant game, as Harrison and her teammates were on a big losing streak. They lost 12 games in a row, and that streak started with their 79-62 loss to the Washington Mystics. Then, the losses piled up, and the Tempo were searching for a win.
While the playoffs are out of the question, the Tempo pick up a few more wins. They have four games remaining, and they will take on the Indiana Fever in the first one. Then, matchups against the New York Liberty, the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun will close the season.
A team’s first season can be challenging, and while the Tempo can get wins, they are still a lottery team. This season is a stepping stone, and Toronto will add a talented player come draft day. Until then, this is a moment to relax, and some of the team’s top players are taking advantage of this period.
