THREE-TIME SLAM DUNK CHAMPION NATE ROBINSON JOINS BIG3,

TEAMS UP WITH TRI-STATE

NEW YORK, NY — Jan. 16, 2018 — Nate Robinson will join the BIG3 as a co-captain of Tri-State alongside Captain Jermaine O’Neal, the league announced today.  The addition of Robinson to the BIG3 is yet another in a wave of recent signings made possible by the third co-captain roster spot available to each team in 2018.  Baron Davis and Ron Artest were previously announced as off-season co-captain acquisitions for 3’s Company and Killer 3s respectively.  With Robinson’s signing, five co-captain spots remain.

Robinson spent 11 seasons in the NBA playing for New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, and Denver Nuggets.  He was selected with the 25th pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.  The 5’ 9’’ point guard is known for his high-flying abilities and became the NBA’s only three-time Slam Dunk Contest champion.

Robinson will join a Tri-State squad that finished sixth in 2017, after falling short to 3’s Company in the BIG3 Playoffs.  Tri-State will round out its three remaining roster spots in the BIG3 Draft.

The BIG3 previously announced  two-year agreements with 23 player captains, co-captains and coaches from the inaugural season, including 2017 BIG3 MVP Rashard Lewis, 2017 BIG3 Champions Trilogy’s Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington and coach Rick Mahorn, Allen Iverson, Corey Maggette, Chauncey Billups, Clyde Drexler, Gary Payton, Brian Scalabrine, Jermaine O’Neal, Charles Oakley, Stephen Jackson, Mike Bibby, DerMarr Johnson, Jermaine O’Neal, Ricky Davis, Josh Childress, Cuttino Mobley, Jerome “Junk Yard Dog” Williams, George “The Iceman” Gervin, and Rick Barry.

The league has also announced that 25 players from the inaugural BIG3 season have signed to the 2018 BIG3 Draft Pool. Among those players eligible are Eddie Basden, Kareem Rush, Hakim Warrick, Ivan Johnson, Marcus Banks, Mo Evans, Paul McPherson, Rasual Butler, DeShawn Stevenson, Kendall Gill, Moochie Norris, Andre Owens, Mike Sweetney, Al Thornton, Ruben Patterson, David Hawkins, Lee Nailon, Mike James, Dominic McGuire, Xavier Silas, Derrick Byars, Desmon Farmer, Brian Cook, Eddie Robinson, and Larry Hughes. Each team will fill their three remaining roster spots at the 2018 Draft.

The BIG3’s 10-week season will tip off on June 22 and air live on Friday nights on FOX Broadcast Network and FS1.
