So far, Season 2 of Paradise has been just as suspenseful as Season 1. While there are many detractors putting the new season down, that’s only because of how great the first season was. However, what many are missing is that Season 2 of Paradises is following the same format as the first season.
We were told stories of the survivors in the Bunker in Colorado, but what came with that was that viewers were able to walk away with favorites and those we hated. Xavier was the go-to guy. He was the hero. We loved Billy even though he did some grimey stuff. We fell for Cal and all his bravado, and then we had those we hated. Sinatra sits at the top of the list, and so does Jane. Now, with Season 2, we sorta moved away from those characters and were given new ones to latch on to. First, there was Annie. We rooted for her, and when she didn’t make it, it felt like Cal died all over again.
Now, at the conclusion of Episode 4, we were introduced to Gary, the Mailman. I can’t lie, I didn’t sense anything was off with him until towards the end of the episode. The way he couldnt look at Xavier at the Auction. Hell, his story was believable. Then, in true Paradise fashion, the knife hit our backs when we learned that Gary is the outside-world version of Jane.
All that backstory may have had some truth to it, but we can tell that from his perspective, it’s lies between the lines. What we need is the Teri or Bean version. Gary did tell Xavier part of the truth: he was, or still is, in love with Teri. But at what cost was Gary willing to go to make sure she never made it to Xavier and her family?
He told Xavier the story that they were taken by the train people when, in fact, much like Linc, they meant no harm to anyone. Gary turned on his friend Ennis, but what Gary didn’t know and may have turned out to be fatal was that Bean saw it all.

The question for many Paradise fans is what happened after Bean saw Gary kill Ennis? Did Bean have enough time to warn Terri and the others before Gary returned, or did Gary take matters into his own hands? My theory is that Gary returned and has Teri and Bean locked away somewhere. Remember, that is a Fallout Shelter, and all we saw were specific parts of it. Gary worked at the Post Office for years, and he knows where to hide things.
Or maybe, he did the unthinkable. That’s what I think happened with the rest of the people. He killed them. As we know with Paradise, we won’t return to that storyline next episode, as Episode 6 is titled “Jane”. We don’t know much about her, but we will get a backstory.
As for Gary, Xavier is smart; he has to know that something is up. Gary may have pulled off a major move, but that was done out of desperation and emotion. Xavier is more calculating, and Gary is seeing it, but this inner conflict between these two men is going to come to a head sooner than later. The question is, will Xavier find and save Teri in time?
