The Patriots Have A Meaningful Game In Buffalo

The Patriots will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills on Sunday Night Football. This game will mark the first time Drake Maye takes the primetime stage to showcase his skills. The Patriots have had a solid season so far, making last week’s significant win against a weaker team crucial. While I don’t expect the Patriots to win on Sunday, if they can keep the game competitive, it could indicate promising hope for the future.

Drake Maye has drawn comparisons to Josh Allen. According to Mike Vrabel, the Josh McDaniels offense is more collaborative. It appears that the Patriots are implementing both McDaniels’ offense and elements of the West Coast offense, as all of the offensive assistants, except for Josh McDaniels—who was hired by Robert Kraft—have backgrounds in the West Coast offense..

Well, it’s not only Josh. I enjoy working with Josh. I enjoy working with the entire offensive staff. It’s good coaches on that side. There’s a lot of collaboration. I like kind of where we are from an efficiency standpoint, just trying to work ahead and be detailed and making sure that everybody is doing their roles and assignments and … We work the run game. Then Josh and Thomas and Todd and Ashton will work some of the passing game when it goes to third down, and then we all get together on red zone, and those things certainly paid off last week. So been able to marry some plays and when you can convert and you can string some drives together or some plays together, then things look alike, and then that all complements. We’ve talked about that before. When you just live in a three-and-out world and you’re not extending drives, it’s hard to marry those plays.

Drake Maye plays better when he does the West Coast style offense, and Stefon Diggs is in the slot. You know Diggs is ready to face his old team up in Buffalo. Here are his thoughts.

To me, obviously, it’s a little sentimental. I spent a lot of time there,” Diggs said of his return, via Boston.com. “I’m real familiar with the staff, familiar with the guys there. The guys that I’ve maintained a relationship with, I’m looking forward to seeing them play. It’s going to be a little bit emotional.

“I try to keep the main thing the main thing, but it’s my first time back there. It’s going to be a hell of an atmosphere. I was a part of that for a long time. I played there before I got there. So, I’m excited.”

I believe the Patriots will be competitive in this game, but they need to start strong. If they begin as they did against Carolina, they’ll struggle to catch up. Buffalo is a very good team, especially when playing at home..
