Op Ed: Mac Jones Doesn’t Deserve To Be On The Patriots

Mac Jones needs everything to be perfect around him

There isn’t a quarterback except maybe Patrick Mahomes that would do well throwing to those pass catchers. What we saw yesterday was what every quarterback in this league would do without a legit number one receiver, except for Mahomes. Mac Jones can’t overcome mediocre talent at receiver and tight and make them great. The only ones that could do that were Brady and Mahomes. Brady would do well in this offense cause he made everyone around him better. Tom Brady, worked what Belichick gave him at receiver and and made the most of it. Hence it was all Brady as Belichick is now 26-29 since Brady left.

The conclusion I came up with after yesterday was Mac Jones doesn’t deserve to be on this team. Belichick doesn’t value offense and he really hasn’t in 20 years. He has never drafted a good wide receiver. The only pass catcher he drafted who developed into something was Gronkowski. N’Keal Harry was a bust.

All quarterbacks around the league have a legit number one receiver Mac Jones doesn’t

I’ve been saying look around the league every quarterback has a legit number one pass catcher. Josh Allen has Stefon Diggs, Tua has Tyreek Hill, Joe Burrow has Jamarr Chase, and seventh-round no-name Brock Purdy has Deebo Samuel, Brandon Ayuik, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey. What would Purdy look like on this Patriots team throwing to Mac’s pass catchers? He’d look like Mac Jones.

Bill O’Brien only fixed half the problem Mac Jones needs an elite pass catcher

Mac Jones has Bill O’Brien which many and I included thought it would fix the issues on offense. It only fixed part of it the pass catchers can’t run his offense because they aren’t number one. They are a bunch of twos and threes.

If you put Jones on the Bills, Bengals, Dolphins, and 49ers he’s a better quarterback because the talent around him is better. Stuck on the Patriots even with O’Brien without a legitimate number-one receiver what you see is what you’ll get and that’s a fact.

The Mac Jones pick at 15 was a Kraft choice Belichick destroyed him in his second season. Kraft goes and brings in O’Brien and Belichick spends money on Special Teams and making sure the defense is good. He doesn’t build around the offense. He gets rid of Jakobi Meyers because he talked about how bad the offense was last year. He signs washed-up bad knees JuJu Smith-Schuster who is absolutely useless. DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Mike Gesicki, and Hunter Henry aren’t good enough. Neither of them are number one’s.

This is what Mac said after the blowout loss to the Cowboys.

I think for me…it wasn’t my day. I can’t turn the ball over like that and try to beat good teams. So, definitely a lot to learn from. Definitely disappointed in myself. I feel like I can play a lot better and I have to, to beat good teams.”

Obviously, Mac has to be better but he won’t with what he has to work with. Again, trade places with another quarterback like Brock Purdy, and Jones would be the one undefeated with the 49ers and Purdy would suck with the Patriots.
