Padres Are Making Other Owners Look bad

As spring training starts around baseball there is only one exciting team heading into the 2023 season the San Diego Padres. What the Padres have done over the past few seasons is try and build a team to win many championships, not just one. Between Manny Machado, Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis, and recently Xander Bogaerts the Padres are the talk around baseball, and they should be. Even their pitching is pretty solid between Yu Darvish, Jose Musgrove, and Blake Snell, and just signed Michael Wacha formerly of the Red Sox. What the Padres have done is make other owners around the league look bad.

Comparing The Red Sox Ownership To The Padres

Let’s look at Fenway Sports Group for example. John Henry’s baseball team the Red Sox have gotten worse since the end of the 2022 season. Not only did they just lose Bogaerts, but also Benintendi, Betts, and was forced by fans to sign Rafel Devers this offseason. Since Lebron James has bought a percentage of Fenway Sports Group they have put Liverpool on the market, have an interest in the Washington Commanders, and have an interest in a basketball team in Vegas. The selling of their trash baseball team is next while having the most expensive ticket prices in the league.

Now let’s look at San Diego who is built to win a lot of championships. Padres’ owner Peter Seidler knows how to get asses in seats and to draw people in. He lets General Manager A.J. Preller get real actual talent on the roster and doesn’t spew corporate analytical garbage like Chiam Bloom of the Red Sox does. Bloom tried to make sense of getting rid of Betts and Bogaerts while getting booed off the stage at the Red Sox Winter Weekend. Meanwhile, thousands showed up to Padres fanfest excited for what’s to come this upcoming season because they know their team is a real contender.

The Padres Want To Win Now and For Years To Come

VIA The San Diego Union

A lot of owners are questioning what the Padres are doing. I have a question though would you rather be the Red Sox right now or San Diego? I would rather be San Diego and it’s not even close. Look at how the Fenway Sports Group wants Bloom to run the Red Sox he has no shot at being successful and they are Tampa Bay north.

San Diego wants to compete year in and year out. Red Sox won’t be good for a long time if I’m Alex Cora I’m maybe looking for a new managerial job at the end of the 2023 season. Red Sox are built for last place as long as that ownership group remains what it is. Do all of Red Sox nation a favor and just sell the team.

Padres’ owner Peter Seidler won’t be selling the Padres anytime soon especially if they win a championship. Manager Bob Melvin gave a great review on how Fernando Tatis is doing since being injured and suspended. He’s also suspended for the first 20 games of the upcoming season for PED use.

“It looked like he never left, you know, he was never hurt,” said Melvin. “He feels great with the shoulder right now, the wrist probably takes a little more time. “I think it really benefited him to have that surgery because that’s something that could’ve been a problem at any particular time”, said Melvin. “To get past that right now and not have to think about it, I think that benefits him and gives him more piece of mind.”

When Tatis comes back from a suspension that team will be better than it was last year. The Padres are solid and stacked across the board.  So, to the Red Sox fans my advice is to buy the MLB.TV package and watch Don Orsillo broadcast the Padre games instead of the bore fest NESN will give you on a nightly basis.
