The San Diego Padres are heading into the offseason with a strong roster that should have advanced further than the wild-card round of the playoffs. There’s really no excuse for their loss to the Cubs, especially given their impressive lineup with players like Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and Luis Arraez.
San Diego Padres Bats Were Quiet
I believe the bats went silent when they were needed most, which ultimately led to their defeat against the Cubs. Looking ahead, I wonder if Mike Schildt is the right manager to lead this team to a World Series. While it may seem like a long shot, I think they should consider trading for Alex Cora from Boston. He would be an ideal manager for the Padres, as he knows how to win and could help the team finally overcome their struggles. would be an ideal manager for the Padres, as he knows how to win and could help the team finally overcome its struggles. Manny Machado said after the Cubs’ loss.
It has come out that there was a controversial strike called at the end of game three, and the Padres gave it to the umpires after the game as the umpires were leaving.
Looks like the Padres are going to try and get Jarren Duran, who they have wanted for a long time. He adds another big bat, but they may need some help in the bullpen as well. No excuse to not have a home playoff game this year with that roster. It was a failed season.
