Patriots Players Want To Be Coached Harder

Remember in one of the Super Bowl parades Bill Belichick was chanting “No Days Off.” Well, now that he is 70, he seems to be in No, days off more often than before. It started in the spring when the Patriots would have days off practices and had a three-day weekend after getting blown out by the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night football. The players thought they would be practicing on Friday, but they had the day off.  Even Mac Jones said after the game he wants to be coached harder.

We saw Mac give to Matt Patricia yet again this past Monday. Shaking his head at the beginning of the third quarter and yelling “F—.” Coming back from commercial he is seen yelling and waving towards the sideline almost like go away stop talking. It really is a mess and backward. The coaches should be wanting more of the players. However, it’s the complete opposite the Players are asking more out of the coaches. Mac wants to move the ball downfield better and not use quick screen plays. After the pass to Hunter Henry in the third quarter that led to a touchdown, he was seen on the sideline giving a hug to Patricia. Almost like saying “good job see what happens when you let me throw the ball.”

Patriots Players have a disconnect with the coaches

Part of it is protection too but if you give Jones time, he can find the open receiver. Regardless of if they make the playoffs or not, they need an offensive coordinator period. If they bring this mess back next year, I’m not sure what Kraft would be thinking. He can see this isn’t working. They have the talent to be better than a 7-6 team. But because of the coaching on the offensive side, they are average at best.

Now they switch gears to the Raiders and Josh McDaniels. The Raiders are having a bad year themselves, but it would be something if Josh beat the Patriots pretty good. The Patriots’ offense looking at the polished McDaniels run offense while they have dumb and dumber running theirs. Here is a question exchange by Mike Reiss and Bill Belichick from yesterday.

The Question :As you prepare to face the Raiders, obviously a familiar face in Josh [McDaniels]. I was curious as when we stand here today just making the transition without Josh offensively, how much harder or how hard has that been relative to maybe what you thought it would be?

Answer: Again, we’ve talked about that. We’ve been in this transition every year.

What Bill Belichick doesn’t get because of his ego is when the Patriots had different offensive coaches’ coordinators you had Tom Brady at quarterback. It didn’t matter who you had as offensive coordinator whether it was Josh McDaniel’s, Bill O’Brien, or Charlie Weiss. Brady was always going to cover up the mistakes because he knew how to pull games out of his butt and still does to this day. But, when you have a second-year quarterback who wants and needs coaching you decide to bring your defensive coach from upstairs and make him your offensive coordinator. What does it look like now? A complete mess. But what’s Bill’s answer. “No big deal there’s transition every year.” He’s got way too much of an ego.

The Patriots may have their hands full come Sunday with this Raiders team. It did get flexed from a Sunday Night game. Which I’m sure Kraft isn’t happy about. He wants the Patriots to play a good game and win. Also, hopefully, Josh doesn’t make them look stupid on offense.
