Once again, Cinderella danced for a few rounds but they could not make it to the Final Four. This year’s teams is a list of whose who in College Basketball.
- Kansas is ranked no.1 in all-time wins.
- North Carolina is ranked 3rd in all-time wins.
- Duke is ranked 4th in all-time wins.
- Villanova is ranked 18th in all-time wins.
Kansas vs Villanova:
Saturday, 6:09PM, TBS Sports.
The Jayhawks enter this weekend game with a 32-6 record. They have 7 players averaging over 6 points per game. Ochai Agbaji is averaging 18 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Jalen Wilson and David McCormack are averaging 21 points and 15 rebounds per game combined. This is a team that can have a different starter carry the team for a half or an entire game. They are physical, aggressive, and play with a swagger.
Jay Wright has led the Villanova Wildcats to 2 National Championship in 2016 and 2018. They are well coached and never beat themselves with costly mistakes. Starting forward, Justin Moore underwent surgery for his torn Achilles tendon and will be unable to play. This is a Villanova team that when healthy, only played 6 guys. This is a terrible loss for a team that is not deep at all.
Prediction:
The Jayhawks are playing with confidence. This game will be close for the first 20 minutes but Kanas will wear down Villanova in the second half.
Kansas wins 68-55
Duke vs North Carolina:
Saturday, 8:49 PM, TBS Sports.
For the first time in history. Duke will face North Carolina in a Final Four.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski is retiring at the end of the year. That is bad news for Blue Devil fans, the good news is, Duke is the most talented team left in the Final Four. Paolo Banchero could be the No.1 pick in the NBA draft. He is averaging 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Mark Williams is an elite shot-blocker and averaged 11.3 points and 7 rebounds per contest. This Duke team is different from other elite teams that won National Championships. They don’t have a Christian Laettner, Grant Hill, or Jason Williams who can go out and get 30 points. Instead, they have 5 starters who can all score 20 points on any given night. They do not rely on one player at all.
Hubert Davis has done an amazing job in Carolina as a first-year coach. The Tar Heels are going into the Final Four believing they can win it all. Armando Bacot is a double/double machine. Bacot’s 12 points and 17 rebounds through 25 minutes of play officially marked his 29th double/double of the season. He tied Tim Duncan’s ACC record of 29 double-doubles, recorded in 1996-97. Brady Manek is averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds. North Carolina wants to pound the ball inside early and often.
Prediction:
North Carolina beat Duke in Coach K’s last home game of his career, 94-81. I expect the Blue Devils to come out with a vengeance and start the game super aggressive. Duke has too much talent and too many playmakers to lose this game.
Take the Blue Devils 87-78
