So it’s that time of year again the 2017 NFL Season is right around the corner with the start of training camp today. For Patriots Training Camp it’s different not only is it open for the public but also they are coming off a Super Bowl Championship, so you know Patriots fans would be packing the grass and bleachers at Gillette Stadium.
I’d say at least 20,ooo-30,000 people were there today watching the defending Super Bowl Champions get back to work. It was so packed with fans they even opened the ramp overlooking the practice fields so fans could get a better view. The gates opened at 8am and I’m sure people were running over each other to get the best spot.
Tom Brady walked into the field with a loud applause followed by “Brady Chants.” After the practice Rob Gronkowski was interviewed and asked about the Brady chants he said “Every single year it gets louder and louder. If I was in the stands I’d be up cheering for him.”All three quarterbacks Jimmy, Tom, and Jacoby got reps today Brady even threw a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski. I didn’t see Garoppolo use the bike at all, I know it was noted in minicamp he was on it.
Notable matchup was Stephon Gilmore on Brandin Cooks. The only notable absence was Rob Ninkovich from training camp. Other than that it was back and ready for the season to start. Belichick said that first full pad practice will be on Saturday.
All the undefeated 19-0 talk is stupid even USA Today predicated them to go 16-0. Yes the Patriots are stacked and pretty much already punched their ticket for the AFC championship game, but you know the players and coaches aren’t thinking that way. It’s all about a day at a time and doing what is best for the team.
I don’t think the Patriots will go undefeated they have that back to back away games going from Denver to Mexico City to play the Raiders which I think is stupid. So most likely they will be out in Denver then fly to Mexico then back home.
I don’t know how many teams have public practice but there is no way the turnout is has big as it is in Foxboro. The fans really no how to bring it and support the Patriots even in training camp. Get ready for the ride of the 2017 season cause today is only the beginning.
