5 Things We Learned About Week 2 In College Football
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

One of the best things about the NFL and College football is almost every game matters. You can go on a three game losing streak in baseball, basketball and hockey and no one cares. Lose two or  three in a row during the football season and your playoff dreams could be shattered.

5 Things We Learned About Week 2 In College Football:

5) Oregon Quarterback, Justin Herbert should win the Heisman Trophy: In his first two games of the season, Herbert has been a touchdown machine. The Junior quarterback has thrown for 9 touchdowns, ran for one and is completing 63.8% of his passes. The PAC-12 is weaker than it has been. The Ducks should win 9 games and Herbert should be a finalist for the Heisman. He should throw for over 3,000 yards and have 35 or more touchdown passes. He could be the #1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

4) How about those Kentucky Wildcats: Coming into this game, the Florida Gators had beaten UK 31 times in a row, the country’s longest current streak by any team over another. All that ended on Saturday as Kentucky upset #25 Florida 27-16. For the first time since 1986, Kentucky can celebrate a football victory over their most hated rivals. The Wildcats dominated the 2nd half, outscoring the Gators 20-6. If you look at UK’s schedule, they can win 8 or 9 games. They must take this momentum over the next several weeks and get to a very competitive Bowl game. When was the last time UK Football did that?  Mark Stoops is building something special in Lexington.

#3) You play to win the game: Herman Edwards and Arizona State is now 2-0 after an upset victory over #15 Michigan State 16-13 on Saturday night. This was a heavy weight boxing match that was not pretty to watch. Defense dominated the game until ASU scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Brandon Ruiz kicked a 28-yard field goal to seal the victory with no time on the clock. Heisman hopeful, N”keal Harry had 6 catches for 89 yards and 1 touchdown. ASU could be a legitimate contender in the PAC-12.

#2) #3 Georgia manhandles #24 South Carolina: The #3 Bulldogs went into SC and took the Gamecocks out to the woodshed. The won 41-17 but the game wasn’t that close. Georgia was up 41 to 10 at the end of the 3rd quarter before they literally called “The dogs off.” Quarterback, Jake Fromm was 15-18 for 194 yards and a touchdown. Georgia rushed for 271 yards and held SC to 54 rushing yards.

#1) #17 USC has no identity: In their week 1 victory over UNLV, USC gave up 300 yards rushing. In week 2 against Standord, the Trojans had 332 yards of total offense. This team is not elite defensively, not elite offensively and has no plan of action on how to attack opposing defense. USC is in trouble. Did Sam Darnold save Clay Helton’s job. Fortunately for USC, they only play two ranked opponents over their next 10 games.
