5 Questions Following The Power Book 2: Ghost Series Finale

Power Book 2: Ghost is over and by the way fans have shared their sentiments on social media, some are pissed, surprised, hurt, shocked, and confused. According to some, the finale seemed rushed. Maybe it was the news that the show was ending and the writers had other plans. Either way, we came away hopeful. There were no major deaths like it was in the original Power. Tariq lived to see another day. Hell, Tariq lived to become a boss. The Tejada kids all survived and even coked-up Brayden managed to escape death.

But the absence of Ghost was more confusing to some Power fans. He was sure to pop up to help Tariq, right? Even with his non-return, the Finale left me with many questions. Here are 5 questions I have following the series finale of Power Book 2: Ghost.

Who Called Tariq

We all know it was Tommy who made the call to Tariq. Things are getting tight in Chicago and Tommy is short on men. While not as ruthless as he is Tommy needs someone with brains who can think quickly on their feet. With Ghost supposedly dead, Tommy knows that Tariq has his father’s brain. They think alike no matter how many times Tariq tries to deny it.

This is a good way to extend Tariq’s story as well as the arcs of some of the other characters. Effie and Brayden are still down with him so those two making the trek to Chicago could also fall into play here.

Diana The New Queenpen

Monet is gone. Dru is leaving to pursue his art dream and Cane is in the run. All Diana has left is herself. While the bond between her and Tariq is somewhat present, Diana wants to be her own woman. Her looking over the family dinner table with that scowl on her face is a clear indication of what her plans are. She wanted her brothers involved but they had to do what was best for them.

The main question is can she hold it down like Monet did? According to Monet, she did everything for her kids. Well, Diana doesn’t have any and she’s now just out for blood and power. For a woman who wanted no part of the game for 4 seasons, her attitude quickly changed with her back against the wall.

Where Is The Money

These kids have been selling drugs the majority of their lives and yet, no one has anything to show for it. Tariq has no home, he lives on campus with Brayden. Effie is in the same boat. Diana lives with Monet and Dru and Cane lives in Mecca’s old apartment as well.

When it was time to run, no one said I have a big stash hidden away for a rainy day except Effie. Where the hell is all the money they earned? I get that things come up but they should have been a little better off. We can make the argument that Ghost was broke but he had assets. These kids have nothing. Even with Cane and Dru running, Monet didn’t have any money around for them to get their hands on?

No Revenge For His Sister

At the end of Power Book 2: Ghost, Tariq approached Noma’s brother Chinedu about a partnership with Noma gone. That scene was extremely weird. Noma never mentioned Tariq to him? Does he not know the truth of everything? Why would he help Tariq so quickly? Tariq was an enemy of his sister’s and just like that, all is forgiven?

His niece is dead and Tariq was sleeping with her. With all that has gone down, I would have thought the writers would delve a little more into his character. Maybe he’s all about the business and didn’t care for his family but he was there for the wedding so we know that’s not the case. They dropped the ball with this one. Another part of the ending that made no sense to me.

What’s Up With Nico

Nico appeared to be an easy character to make assumptions about. Carter was the ruler and Nico was the follower. But as the season wore on, you could sense a slight change in his allegiance. Nico had questions and he did not believe a word that Carter was saying. In his gut, he knew that Carter had something to do with the deaths of Felicia and Kamaal. But he needed solid proof. Once he got it, it was he who arrested Carter.

But in the end, he was seen taking money from Tariq. That’s where it all seems a bit strange. Nico is a dirty cop. We know this by what happened in the bar with the Russians. But by arresting Carter, we were led to believe he may have turned things around. Nope. Maybe it wasn’t hatred for Carter, maybe it was jealousy and all he wanted was his spot.
