Yankees Got Better At the Deadline, While The Red Sox still have Bullpen Issues
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

It’s August which means the trade deadline has passed in Major League Baseball, and the Yankees got better and the Red Sox are a dysfunctional bunch at the moment. With all that drama going on at 4 Yawkey Way the Yankees just got better with adding Todd Fraizer from the White Sox and Sonny Gray from Oakland. The Red Sox called up Rafel Devers, and traded for Edurado Nunez from the Giants. The Red Sox got Addison Reed from the Mets but do they need more bullpen help than that?
The answer is yes, they clearly don’t have good arms really in that bullpen.
The bullpen is average at the moment with Heath Hembree has given up the most runs at 23, and Austin Maddox has given up no runs but only has pitched in three games. Matt Barnes has given up 21 runs this year,
Fernando Abad had given up 12 runs, Blaine Hoyer had given up 10 runs, and Brandon Workman 4 runs.
Joe Kelly is on the DL. With Craig Kimbrel just used as a closer .
So as of August 1st the Red Sox are in first place and let’s hope it stays that way. Addison Reed 2.57 ERA this season, again another average bullpen arm. The market must’ve not have been good for relievers. The ace on the team is Chris Sale and if he was here longer than this year he would be the voice of the clubhouse. The Red Sox still have some time but August and September are crucial months in MLB with seeding and everything. Like I’ve said this team is good enough to make the playoffs, but once again the Yankees are on you’re ass. As Dave Dombrowski said yesterday calling the Yankees the Golden State Warriors because they got Sonny Gray. Brian Cashman said the same thing when the Red Sox got Chris Sale. Both teams are good we’ll see if this rivalry is back on towards the end of the season, as both teams try to win the division.
