World Cup 2026 Bid

World Cup 2026 Bid

The soccer federations of Mexico, U.S. and Canada have come tighter to do a joint bid to host the 2026 World Cup. It is no secret that I love sports a lot, but my passion for futbol or soccer as some call it is on another level. I blame my mother she taught me early on that soccer was life and the rest is just details. And like most things she instilled in me, I thank her for it daily. Here is what we know and some questions we still have to get answers for.

This would be the second time two nations host a World Cup 2002 Japan/South Korea was the first. Who can forget when team USA got ROBBED vs Germany Khan didn’t save that ball. Or the sea of red when we took on South Korea led by some young kid named Landon Donovan. For the U.S., it would be the first time since 1994 we host the cup, and Mexico would be the first time 3x host, and Canada is the new kid. Is this part of the ‘New FIFA” where nations work as one and bring people together?

Game Breakdown:
USA: 60gms
Mexico: 10gms
Canada: 10gms

With this being the first 48 team tournament to me this makes great sense. All three countries have stadiums in place so no need for the classic over building of spots that won’t get used afterward. Our friends up north did the ladies dirty and had them play on turf, which was brutal. Will they switch to grass for the men? We won’t have an answer to if they get the bid until May 2020 BUT all three nations have asked for a faster answer maybe June 2018.

Some questions I have are:

  1. Who hosts the first game and the final?
  2. Will all 3 nations get auto bids to the cup as usually?
  3. Are Canada and more importantly Mexico cool with JUST 10 games and nothing after group play?

At the end of the day this is GREAT for so many reasons. MLS will be bigger by then and will be an even more legit league, respected worldwide. Players who we don’t even know yet will headline Team USA and our golden child Christian Pulisic will only be 26 and he is already good so beware world he’s coming. All the rapid fan bases in US cites will be seen by the world, we are the real deal in terms of passion and love for the beautiful game.

Time fly’s so while 2026 seems far away we have a lot to look forward to. Futbol fans recall how much the culture increased in the states after 1994 so just wait until the World Cup comes in 2026.

Joe Cardoso

Joe Cardoso here! I’m the epitome of a sports junkie. An alum of the College of Southern Maryland, I received a diploma from the Maryland Institute of Broadcasting (MIB). During my tenure at MIB, I was a news/sports major and had the opportunity to intern at Fox 45 sports and Ravens Radio. I also worked as an overnight board operator for Sports Talk 980 ESPN Radio. I’ve been a total sports fanatic pretty much from the womb. My first love is soccer followed by basketball and then football. My favorite athletes are Kevin Garnett and Marino Rivera and my sports teams are the Yankees, Commanders, Michigan, Wizards, and Chelsea. My passion for sports is never ending. My sister once commented that I would probably follow pig racing if it was a sport!
