Season 4 of All American Homecoming will have major changes. Peyton Alex Smith, who plays star pitcher Damon Sims will no longer be a series regular. He’s now down to just a few episodes but what does that mean for his character moving forward?
With the original All American, that usually means death. Corey James, Shawn Scott, and then Billy Baker. Will the same fate befall Damon Sims this season?
While the writers could go that route and base this season on emotions, this would be a huge mistake. Losing Billy Baker last season was a tough pill to swallow. So, losing Damon a year later will rub fans the wrong way.
The right way to go would be for Damon to turn pro the same way they made Thea Mays do it for Season 2. With the big decision hanging over the head of Simone Hicks, it’s clear the person she choose will be Orlando since he’s been bumped to series regular. No way they will try to have Simone work out two long-distance relationships. The first one failed with Jordan Baker so why go that route again with Damon?
Will Damon Sims Be Killed Off
Damon turning pro and being away from the campus is the only thing that makes sense. Since the beginning of All American Homecoming, he’s flirted with that idea. He’s even thought about transferring schools. The death of his adopted father was a great storyline but he’s past the grieving stage. So his walking away from school or the game of baseball due to grief has expired.
He did proclaim his love for Simone and if she chooses Orlando, would that be enough to push him to the pros? Quite possibly.
But killing him off, no way. As far as storylines go, that could bring the team together and set them on one heck of a run but there is enough drama heading into this new season that a death is not needed. His brother JR is going through his medical issues. Marcus and Amara will have a fight on their hands with his mysterious wife popping up. There is just too much going on to think about breaking the hearts of loyal fans.
However the writers decide to write him off, it has to be done with class. We’re tired of seeing death on these shows and most of the time, it’s not even warranted.
