The raucousness and energy of the Omaha faithful didn’t relent as Day Two of the Olympic Swimming Trials showcased an excellent mix of established Olympic greatness with greatness in the making.

A 15-time world champion and the female equivalent to Michael Phelps surprised nobody.

Katie Ledecky continued to cement her legacy as the greatest female swimmer in the world in the Women’s 400-meter freestyle and will make her third Olympics.

The night also saw the next generation punch their ticket to Tokyo making a lifelong dream come true.

The fresh-faced humble midwesterner Michael Andrew took it in stride as he will make the treacherous pilgrimage to the far east with a close victory in the Men’s 100 Meter Breaststroke.

Torri Huske’s visibility as an Asian American at a time of ever-increasing anti-Asian hate during COVID-19 and setting a new record in the Women’s 100 Meter Butterfly became a strong statement of love trumping hate.

After the race, Torri spoke about what keeps her grounded and focused given everything that has taken place this past year that led her to this historic moment.

“My friends keep me grounded and treat me like a normal person” she said.
