Happy July, baseball fans! This is the halfway point of the season, and for those who love the game of baseball, you start dialing it in on another level. So far, we have been given a lot to take in, things like the power surge from Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh, to go along with the Detroit Tigers hitting 50 wins already. Before the article goes any further, I want to pay respect to MLB legend Dave Henderson, who we lost. the cobra was a beast on the field with World Series titles, batting titles, and an MVP. Condolences to his family and friends.
Are The Mets Ok?
This was the season the Mets turned it all around and made noise in the National League. Well, looks like so far, the players didn’t get the memo. They are only sitting 2 games out of first place. Player-only meetings, getting swept by Pittsburgh, giving up 30 runs, happy Bobby Bonilla Day. This is a team that better be very active at the trading deadline. Steve Cohen tweeting messages to fans, all these things aren’t good. New York will be looking for pitching, starting, and bullpen help, along with a bat to help at the bottom of the order. Another season of talk and little to no action can’t happen, and if it does, big changes are coming in Gotham. David Stearns, we are all looking at you.
Detroit Vs Everybody
The Tigers are rolling. Beating the mighty Dodgers in the race to be the first team to 50 wins, the question, of course, is can they keep it up? Looking at the American League, the biggest threat is the Yankees, but that is a conversation for another day. Right now, this team is ballin. Looking ahead to the trade deadline what could they use? Like 99% of baseball teams more quality pitching as well as maybe a bat or two.
People who follow and report on the team say 3rd base needs to be improved as well. For a great sports town like Detroit this is great and postseason ball in the D is special. The comeback of Javier Baez should be the next Netflix doc love to see it. Can they reach 100-wins? Stay tuned.
Baseball is a long season we all know that. But with the All-Star game coming soon which is always fun, along with the trade deadline now is the time to lock in. Ratings are strong and stadiums are full for a sport many said was dying off. Even ESPN is crawling back and now wants to talk about a TV deal. Pick a team or player and enjoy the action.
