The Snowfall Spinoff Could Be Franklin’s Redemption Story

The series finale of Snowfall did not live up to the expectations of many fans. However, what it did do was set the stage for the rumors of a spinoff. While Wanda is said to be the main character, many were wondering if her husband Lee would join the cast.

With no official word, it’s now clear that a spinoff featuring Wanda would not work without Lee. Since Lee managed to survive the finale of Snowfall, it’s safe to say that he will either star alongside his wife or make a few guest appearances. But wait, there is more to this story.

With Wanda and Lee looking to give back to the community, plus the possibility of taking over the Shelter from Cissy, there is a good chance we may get a redemption story for Franklin Saint. Franklin, much like his father in the early stages of Snowfall was down on hard times. With the help of his estranged wife Cissy, he fought his way back to respectability before he met his demise at the hands of Teddy.

With Lee offering Franklin an olive branch in the finale, the Franklin/Alton storyline can come full circle. Since Franklin did not die or go to prison, he was last seen roaming the streets of his neighborhood as a homeless alcoholic. But he’s still alive.

For 5 seasons at least, we watched Franklin Saint outsmart everyone. It wasn’t until Season 6 that things started to unravel for him. But that does not mean he can’t turn his life around.

He does have a child out in the world and that alone should be his motivation to get clean. It’s the same as it was between him and Alton. At first, Saint was not with the reunion of sorts but he did come around and they had a good relationship up until Alton almost destroyed everything. Now Saint should look to do the same.

Will Franklin Be In The Snowfall Spinoff

If he can get and remain clean, he can begin to make amends. He can help rebuild the community he helped destroy and help those like himself and his dad while forging a bond with his child. He will also need to make amends with his mother who’s doing life in prison for killing Teddy the CUA agent.

While this will be a Wanda and Leon show mostly, Franklin does not need to be the star. A few guest appearances here and there would satisfy the hardcore Snowfall fans who felt letdown by the finale. There has to be a reason why the writers left ranking saint alive and there is a spin-off involving his best friend who came back from Ghana to help the community and his first stop was to check on Franklin.

The foundation is set for Franklin to reprise his role in the rumored Snowfall spinoff. While he and Leon (Yo-Yo) had their intense moments, they ended things as they should have, with a clean late. But knowing Lee as we do, there is no way he’s going to let his friend off the hook that easy. Lee is not built that way.

And to further this point, Franklin is a good reason why Wanda is clean. It was Saint who helped, gave her a purpose, and let her stay in the house. While Franklin did his wrong, he also helped a lot of people in the process, and that’s can’t go unnoticed.

Not many viewers were fans of the way Snowfall ended but there’s a chance for Franklin to get his redemption in the spinoff.
