Back in September, 32 Teams began the season with a dream. A dream of playing in Super Bowl LX and the dream of becoming a champion. After 6 months of preseason, regular, and postseason football games. We are down to two teams that scratched and clawed their way through their completion. The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will battle it out for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
New England Patriots:
The New England Patriots are heading to their 12th Super Bowl in franchise history. This is the 11th Super Bowl under Robert Kraft’s ownership since 1996. The Patriots’ last two seasons, 2023 and 2024, were abysmal: 8-26. Then, they drafted Drake Maye #3 in the 2024 draft. Followed that up by hiring former Patriots player Mike Vrabel as the new head coach. And, in their 1st year together, both Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel are AFC champions.
The 2025 Patriots started the season with a Week 1 loss to the Raiders. Then, a win against the Dolphins, and then a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. After starting the season 1-2, the Patriots then rounded off 10 consecutive wins. Then dropping a tough home loss to arch Buffalo, their 3rd loss of the season. Then in week 17, the Patriots clinched their 1st division title since 2019, and 2nd seed in the AFC.
The Patriots’ postseason run started against the 7th-seeded Los Angeles Chargers in the wild-card round. The Patriots’ defense held them to only 3 points in a 16-3 win over the Chargers. Then, the Houston Texans came to town, and the defense forced 5 turnovers on the day in a 28-16 win. In the AFC championship, the defense again came through big time, holding the Denver Broncos to only 7 points. In all 3 rounds, the Patriots’ defense has only allowed 26 points in all 3 postseason games.
Now, the New England Patriots are looking for their record-breaking 7 Lombardi trophy in franchise history. And, their 1st Super Bowl title in the post-Brady-Belichick era of New England Patriots football. The defense has been playing lights out in the postseason. And, the offense has been carrying its load as well. A win in Super Bowl LX will make the New England Patriots the winningest franchise in the Super Bowl era.
Seattle Seahawks:
The NFC Champions Seattle Seahawks are looking for their 2nd Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. This is their 4th time in the Super Bowl and their 1st since 2014. Mike Macdonald, in his 2nd season, has guided Seattle to within one win of the Super Bowl. And, Sam Darnold has been having a remarkable comeback in his last 2 seasons with Minnesota and now Seattle. And, both of them are on the verge of bringing a Super Bowl title to the city of Seattle.
The season started for the Seahawks with a tough home loss to arch-rival San Francisco, 17-13. Then, they won 6 of their next 7 games before losing to the Rams. Before winning their last 7 games of the season, including an incredible Thursday night classic against the Rams. And, in week 18, with both the NFC West and the #1 seed on the line. The Seahawks went to San Francisco and beat the 49ers 13-3 to clinch the division and the 1 seed.
Seattle not only clinched the division, but they also clinched 1st seed and, more importantly, a 1st round bye. And, both of their playoff matchups were against their NFC West rivals. In the divisional round, the Seahawks demolished arch-rival 49ers by the score of 41-6, in the rubber match. Then, in the NFC Championship, they had another rubber match, this time against the Rams. In the end, the Seahawks squeaked by the Rams 31-27 in the NFC championship game. And, now they get a long-awaited rematch with New England in Super Bowl LX.
The Seattle Seahawks and their fans have been waiting 11 years for this rematch, and now it’s here. A chance to erase the memory of Malcolm Butler destroying the hearts of the city of Seattle. But this time, there is no Tom Brady, there is no Bill Belichick. Sam Darnold has a chance to complete the greatest turnaround for any quarterback in NFL history with a win. While Mike Macdonald has a chance to become the 3rd youngest head coach ever to win a Super Bowl.
Prediction:
Super Bowl LX has the potential to be a defensive battle, as both teams have great defense. Both quarterbacks have their mistakes, and the one who makes the least amount of mistakes will win this game. And, with the play of the New England’s Offensive line, it could be a long day for Drake Maye. While Sam Darnold will complete his career turnaround with an MVP performance. And with the defense, the city of Seattle will have a big-time celebration of their 2nd Lombardi Trophy.
