The Red Sox Are A Playoff Contender Heading Into July, Garrett Richards Is A Puddle

The Red Sox are a much better team than they were in 2020. The reason is simple, Alex Cora. Bringing Cora back has brought the players back. They can relate to him and he brings the energy the team needs. Last year was a borefest, to say the least and the team wasn’t in it. The Red Sox are 48-31 and hold a one-game lead in the AL East. They just beat up on the Yankees this past weekend and are undefeated against them this year. There is no doubt heading into July this team is a playoff contender. They should easily make the playoffs this year. The competition in the AL East is pretty bad and they have the Rays number also.

Red Sox Are Winning Despite Garrett Richards Complaining

Now, there is one thing that is a fascinating story. That is Garrett Richards who doesn’t know how to pitch without cheating. Since MLB did a crackdown on  Spider Tack a substance that pitchers used to pitch better, the pitchers have been crying about it. Red Sox own Garrett Richards seems to be the only pitcher who can’t pitch without using it, his recent quotes have been great. This is what he said last night after the game against the Kansas City Royals.

“I’m figuring it out. I’m starting to throw a changeup now that I learned this week in about three days. Now I’m throwing a curveball at 60 miles an hour, which is new for me. Just trying to figure out how to pitch again, man. I’ve never had to make this kind of change in my whole career so I’m just trying to make the best of it and give us a chance to win.”

So this guy making millions of dollars to pitch in the big leagues just figured out how to throw a changeup? Are you serious? Get this guy off the team and swallow the $10 million you signed him for. He doesn’t belong in the game this guy is a disgrace to the pitchers who play the game right and learn the right way.

This is a quote Richards said last week when MLB began the crackdown on pitchers.

“So we’re gonna follow the rules, but this is the game you’re gonna get. I think time will tell. I think if you just watch baseball across the league, you’re gonna see some interesting things. Be prepared for four-hour long games and some interesting things. I’m just grateful that I got this far into my career before we’re at this point.”

In other words, he’s grateful that he got this far into his career by cheating and now he has to learn how to pitch again. What a loser this guy is, honestly with his attitude I hope he loses every game he pitches. The best thing to come out of his outings is his postgame press conferences when he has a meltdown. Richards has an over 8.00 ERA since the crackdown by MLB. Cora shouldn’t out him on the mound anymore he belongs out of baseball.

Red Sox Pitcher Chris Sale Is Coming Back

Red Sox are also excited that Chris Sale could be returning soon to the team. Cora spoke about it the other day.

“The fact he’s progressing this way, you start thinking ahead to when he’s going to contribute, when he’s going to be part of what we’re trying to accomplish,” Cora said Sunday. “That’s the fun part. Obviously, teams are going to make moves in the upcoming weeks and try to improve. One thing for sure, nobody can trade for Chris Sale. We can add Chris Sale to our equation and we’re very excited about that.”

Adding Sale is huge heading into the playoff push. It also allows Cora to maybe reconsider having Richards in the rotation. The guy can’t shut up about how he can’t cheat anymore.
