The Patriots would be a bad team with any quarterback

For the delusional Patriots fans, who want this team to tank to get a quarterback in the draft. It isn’t going to happen so get it out of your head. If Bill Belichick were to draft a quarterback high in the first round of the draft he would still ruin him like he’s ruined Mac Jones. Belichick only cares about defense and drafting special teams. I’m sure if his kids coached the offensive side of the ball he would care more about offense but he’s got to make his kids look good so his main focus is on the defensive side. Sorry, but drafting a quarterback in hopes it would work won’t because the Patriots will mess it up.

The Patriots offense is a mess due to bad roster management

There isn’t a quarterback in the league that would do well in this offense. The pass catchers are bad, JuJu Smith Schuster has bad knees and is cashed. The rest try to be a go-to wide receiver but can’t. The offensive line is so bad that Belichick thought by getting Calvin Anderson and Riley Reiff they would be better. Bill Belichick half-assed the offense. They got Bill O’Brien which was a Kraft move then Belichick got rid of Jakobi Meyers (Jakobi Meyers article is coming later this week) for Smith-Schuster who can’t even get on the field. Then gets rid of Damien Harris for washed-up Ezekiel Elliott.

The reason Mac Jones isn’t probably going to be benched is because again there isn’t a quarterback that would do well. The dumb Patriots fans screaming and cheering at Gillette on Sunday when Zappe went in down 34-0 like it was Tom Brady coming in to save the day. Here’s a news flash nobody is going to replace what Brady did and hide Belichick’s mistakes on offense. Brady made everyone around him better and those days are over. If Mac Jones was even on the 49ers he would be undefeated and if Purdy was on the Patriots he would probably suck or be a backup.

Even Julian Edelman said on Colin Cowherd that Belichick needs help on the offensive side of the ball.

“I think he needs a little help on the offensive side,” Edelman said on FOX Sports’ “The Herd With Colin Cowherd.” “You look at the defensive picks, they all look pretty good. They always come out and they perform. The Christian Gonzalez kid, before he got hurt, looked like he was playing good.

“But we have whiffed — and I hate talking about Coach like this — but we have whiffed on a lot of offensive skill-position players. I won’t call guys out, but there were three, four receivers when I was playing that we got in top rounds that (didn’t pan out).”

“We have whiffed on a lot of offensive skill position players… I’m still a little shaken on the Jakobi Meyers departure.”

I don’t think Mac Jones can succeed with the Patriots being coached by Belichick. He needs a Mike McDaniel offensive-minded coach who will put the right pieces around him. I do think Jerod Mayo if he were the head coach would probably get an offensive-minded coach from the Sean McVay/Kyle Shanahan system to maybe work with Bill O’Brien if he’s still the offensive coordinator. They just need to get younger on that side of the ball, their system is old and the players they have are old. Bill O’Brien spoke today and said they are sticking with Mac at quarterback.

Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is sticking with Mac Jones

“ I do. There’s no time for mental breaks,” O’Brien continued with a smile. “Those are on your days off, I guess, you can take a little mental break. But it’s the grind of the season. To be in this league, as a coach, as a player, as anybody, you have to be mentally tough. There’s a grind that goes to the league. It’s a 17-week grind. We all have to be mentally tough. The sun came up today. We’re gonna practice today and get after it and be fundamentally sound today and see what happens tomorrow.
