The Snowfall Universe has not been without its fair share of headstrong women. In the first installment of Snowfall, that title clearly went to Queen Louie. And now, here we are with hopes that we won’t get a Louie 2.0 with Dara or Wanda.
After stepping to Leon and Wanda regarding their complicated relationship and bond, Dara not only lit up the Snowfall screen, but she managed to become an overnight social media sensation. She proved that she’s willing to do what has to be done to get what she wants. All men felt her monologue in the pit of their stomachs, and she became the character we now want to see win.
Louie stole any scene she was in as the devoted girlfriend to Jerome and the one who put Franklin on the path that led to him running the streets of Los Angeles. But lurking deep down was a snake.
Many are fearing that Dara could be that same type of cold-hearted character. Let’s be truthful here; we don’t know much about Dara since she appeared on Snowfall: The Drop. What we do know is that somehow, she runs a set of bloods that’s full of men. How did she even get that title and position?
Dara has more respect on the street than Louie ever did, and yet, there is something mysterious about her that draws viewers to her side. Louie was the same way. Louie was down for the family until she wasn’t.
We can all view Dara the same, but the real Louie clone title may have to go to Wanda. In the early stages, Wanda was given a pass on The Drop. We knew the history and were excited to see her aim for something higher. But as the episodes wore on, viewers began to see a shift in her approach. Wanda is reaching for her dreams, but along the way, she’s causing more harm than good. And she appears blind to that.
Her history with Leon is what’s turning viewers against her. Yes, they shared something from the past, but Wanda is playing too many head games. Now that she knows the truth about Lee and Dara, Wanda just did the unthinkable and put everything and everyone in danger. Was it out of spite or her willingness to get ahead in the music business? Either way, she ignored every warning Lee gave her. She’s out for herself.
OG Snowfall fans came into The Drop rooting for Wanda to win. But when we go back and take a closer look at her past, the signs were all there. Wanda is a former drug user. And not someone who used for recreation; she was down bad. It was Lee who welcomed her back. It was Lee who took up for her, and now that things have shifted a bit, it’s Lee who she’s deciding to do dirty. This is the issue that Louie had in the OG series.
Louie was so blinded by the allure of power and position that she burned everything to the ground just to prove that she could do what Franklin did. Wanda is heading down that same path. Never mind the people who were there for you when you couldn’t count on yourself; it’s all about that status now.
There has been mention that Leon should not trust Dara. But something tells me it’s not her we should be worried about. If history is to repeat itself, the real villain of Snowfall: The Drop is not DG, Deon, the bloods, or some off-screen character. The real villain of the show just may very well be the same person who almost destroyed it in the original.
Remember the classic car scene between Franklin and Leon over Man Boy? That was due to Wanda and what she was doing on the streets. Lee was in his feelings over her, and she didn’t care. It’s happening again, but this time, the only drug she’s taking is power. If Lee is not careful, he could find himself in the same position that Louie put Jerome and Franklin in.
I want to believe that Wanda cares about Lamar. But on the flip side of things, he just may be her way into the business. Much like Louie rode the success of Franklin until she undercut him and took the plug. We’re waiting for old characters to reprise their roles, when in fact, those traits are still present in the new series.
