The time has finally come for Tariq St. Patrick on Power Book 2. It’s not his death or him getting away with all the nonsense that he had done we’re looking for. The time has come for him to admit that he’s the second coming of Ghost.
Going back to the original Power series and then his own spinoff, Tariq has always fought off the notion that he’s a mirror image of his dad. In his own words, he truly believes that he’s better than Ghost. Sorry Kid, you’re not. Ghost was on another level. The things he had to fight through, would break Tariq easily. Not saying that Tariq has not had to maneuver through some tough situations, but Ghost climb was a lot harder.
Now, while older characters have told him numerous times he’s just like his dad, Tariq always saw that as an insult. Why? Because Ghost did Tasha wrong? Because he was having an affair with Angela? Because he snitched on Kanan? Because he killed Breeze or because he and Tommy had a falling out? Or because he was ready for Tariq to take the fall for killing Ray Ray?
Whatever the case may be, the writers have tried their best to stay on the path that Tariq has not or will not ever admit that he is Ghost. However, each season, you can see the little subtle hints that the two St. Patrick men are indeed on similar paths. In the final season of Power Book 2, Tariq will need to grasp that comparison and feed off it to survive.
Is Tariq Like Ghost In Power Book 2
Ghost was no saint and neither is Tariq. They have both done the closest to them dirty and now with Tariq on the run from almost everybody but Brayden, his back is against the wall much like his father’s was when he was running for office. Neither could escape their past. They both have treated the women in their lives as obstacles more than partners and both have done shady things to their partners in crime.
Ghost did his best to keep his son away from the game but Tariq never took a moment to reflect on all the good that his father did for him. But truth be told, Ghost lost his daughter because of Tariq. He’s miles behind his after in terms of common sense. Kanan ran game on him so strongly, that Ghost was about to give up his life for him.
Ghost set up a trust fund for Tariq and all he had to do was go to college and graduate. Like, how much did this man do for you? And what Tariq did was turn his back on all that because he wanted to run the streets and be like who? Due to his actions, his twin sister is dead. His mom and younger sister are in hiding with the government. He’s burned bridges with his uncle Tommy. His three girlfriends have turned their backs on him with one set to testify in court, and the other two trying to kill him.
So no, he’s not quite like Ghost just yet. His father was way smarter. However, for him to keep implying that he’s not trying to be his father, it just goes to show that tariq is way over his head. Grasp the comparisons to Ghost and start to think like him. Ghost was an OG for a reason.
