All the talk surrounding Power Book 2 is centered around Ghost making an appearance and Tommy in Chicago. However, there is one person who is often forgotten–Romana Garrity. Where is Romana.? Before Ghost was shot by Tariq, Romana was the one standing with Ghost. She was the one set to help him make a run in politics and best of all, she was a sworn enemy to Rashad Tate. But why hasn’t she made an appearance in Power Book 2 yet?
Tate is still a major figure in the series with his political power and there is no one there to really oppose him or play his good cop to bad cop. This is why Romana would have been so perfect to be cast in the show. And yet, she would be one of the last people with ties to Ghost as well.
Much like the original, there are a lot of moving parts. The drug aspect is still strong, along with the business side (Wall Street), school is still a major storyline and so is the law with Davis MacLean. Romana would fit in perfectly. There are so many ways they could have kept her character going but there hasn’t even been a mention or whisper of her since Power ended.
Will Power Bring Back Romana Garrity
It was at the end of Power that Romana did confront Tate and promised to take him down. This seemed like a pair headed for war but nothing has come of it. Tate is running around doing whatever he wants with no real consequences. Everyone else on the show has at least one person gunning for them, except Tate. Romana was headstrong, about her business, and out to prove that she belonged in a room full of sharks.
The ongoing theory is that Romana helped Ghost fake his death. She was in the club the night of the shooting and with a mind as devious as hers, coupled with Ghost, there is no telling what they had cooked up. Ghost understood that leaving his past behind was the only way to face his future. One way to do that is to vanish.
What made her character so appealing in the original Power was that Romana, like most in her profession, did have her skeletons. And the writers didn’t get to touch too much on that. However, there were reports that Tate was getting his own Power spinoff titled “Influence”, but so far, nothing has come of it.
With his role increasing on Power Book 2, there is no need for his own show but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t deserve a foe to challenge him. Maybe, as he moves up in the political ranks, Romana Garrity will make an appearance and get the revenge so threatened him with following Ghost being shot.
