I am now 103-49 picking NFL games on The Full Monte Sports Show.
4-7 Green Bay Packers at the 9-1 Philadelphia Eagles:
Time: 8:20 PM
TV: NBC
Betting line: Eagles are favored by 6.5 points.
The Packers are coming off a disappointing loss to the Tennessee Titans at home, 27-17. The Eagles had a lackluster performance in their 17-16 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Green Bay has found something in their young wide receiver, Christian Watson. In his last two games, he has 8 catches and 5 touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones continue to be the key to this offense. Rodgers is completing 64% of his passes and has 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Jones is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and has 40 receptions on the season.
Philadelphia has been the surprise story this Season. They are 6th in total yards and 4th in points per game. Defensively, they are only giving up 18 points per contest and are 2nd in pass defense.
Prediction:
This game will come down to Jalen Hurts making some big plays with his feet and arm in the 4th quarter. The Eagles pull away late and win this game.
Eagles…30… Packers…23
1-8-1 Houston Texans at the 7-3 Miami Dolphins:
Time: 1 PM
TV: CBS
Betting line: Dolphins are favored by 14 points
The only thing the Houston Texans have going for them is their rookie running back, Dameon Pierce. Houston has benched starting quarterback Davis Mills, with backup quarterback Kyle Allen stepping in for Sunday’s game against Miami.
This should be a glorified scrimmage for The Dolphins who are coming off a bye and have had two weeks to prepare. Miami is 2nd in passing yards and 3rd in total yards per game. This offense should explode this weekend. I expect Tua Tagovailoa to have 4 touchdown passes in this one.
Dolphins…38… Texans 20
5-6 Atlanta Falcons at the 6-5 Commanders:
Time: 1 PM
TV: Fox
Betting line: Washington is favored by 3.5 points.
The Commanders have won 5 out of 6 games. They started the season 1-4 and their season changed once Taylor Heinicke took over for Carson Wentz at the quarterback position. The Commanders’ defense is starting to play much better and they are now ranked 6th in the NFL. They are only giving up 327 total yards per contest.
The Falcons will be without starting TE Kyle Pitts who will miss time because of a knee injury. Cordarrelle Patterson broke the NFL record for most kickoff-return touchdowns in a career last Sunday with a 103-yard return against the Chicago Bears. This is an offense that continues to be inconsistent and struggles to put points on the board. Atlanta is 3rd in rushing yards but 31st in passing yards.
Prediction:
Both of these coaches want to run the ball, win with defense, and only throw the ball when they have to. It is not a recipe for your quarterback to be successful. Washington is starting to impose their will on defense. I expect this to be a low-scoring game. Commanders will hit a late field goal and Marcus Mariota throws an interception to seal the game.
Washington… 23… Atlanta 20.
