Opening Day…

Opening Day is less than a week away, and oh what a joy it is! We’re getting closer and closer to seeing baseball every day from April until October…how great is that?!? Teams have been getting ready during Spring Training, and are almost ready to go. Some players have moved teams, teams have switched managers, but the great game of baseball still remains the same.

The 2017 season brought us some exciting and crazy things, but just think of the possibilities that the 2018 season can bring us! It is possible that more home runs can be hit than every before. That’s saying a lot being that in 2017 there were over 6,000 balls launched over fences during games in the MLB. That’s the most ever in professional baseball (baseball-almanac.com).

But what about those guys on the mound? We have some studs that we get to watch in baseball on a daily basis. From the artwork that Clayton Kershaw shows us on the mound, to Aroldis Chapman throwing so hard that the sound of the ball hitting the glove can be heard all over Yankee Stadium, to the wipeout slider that Chris Sale throws on a regular basis, there are some great pitchers taking the mound every single day.

Rivalries are bound to become even more interesting this season as well. Both the Red Sox and Yankees now have younger managers, big free-agent signings from the offseason, and fans that want to see their team win in it all potentially more than ever before. New rivalries are poised to be made this season as well. Who’s to say that the Astros and Dodgers won’t meet again in the 2018 World Series?

Overall, 2018 is going to be a great year for baseball, so get your gloves ready, your hats on, and prepare to hear those famous words, “Play Ball!”
Keep checking back in with me throughout the season for great storylines and analysis of the 2018 season!
