Mike Vrabel Vocal During Rookie Minicamp Despite Situation

Mike Vrabel Vocal During Rookie Minicamp Despite Situation

By Steve Atkinson

Mike Vrabel is very vocal and active during the Patriots’ rookie minicamp despite his situation that ESPN refuses to discuss because they knew about him and Russini years ago. The main story around the rookie minicamp is really Vrabel, and that’s it. No disrespect to the rookies, but nobody is interested in the third-string quarterback Behren Morton, whom they drafted. The only other interesting thing was their first-round pick, Caleb Lomu, playing left tackle. The rest was just about how Mike Vrabel looks and how engaged he appears. From the pictures and videos, you wouldn’t think there are any off-field issues.

I just feel myself as a tackle just in general, left or right side,” Lomu told reporters. “Just having to play left in college, and that’s kind of what I got comfortable with, just playing those three years at left tackle at Utah. My first year there, I was kind of a swing tackle. So I feel comfortable on the left, but I’ve also been working on the right these past couple of months. So feel just as good on the right side as well. Either tackle position, I’m happy to play and feel comfortable playing.”

You Wouldn’t Think There Are Any Off Field Distraction with Mike Vrabel

Mike Vrabel isn’t letting the off-field situation distract him from his job. I mean, it’s been going on for years, and people within the NFL and media already knew about it. Really, it’s the public that knows now. Some of the local media are trying to ignore Vrabel’s situation at OTAs and focus on the rookies, but sorry, that isn’t the real story. The focus should be on how Vrabel interacts with the players, how vocal he is, and whether he looks like he wants to be there. All those answers are yes, based on what was shown on Saturday.

I don’t see Vrabel stepping down for a season or quitting. He’s going to coach the Patriots regardless of the pictures that come out. Even the latest one, released with Russini and Vrabel at a Super Bowl party in 2022, tells me that media and NFL insiders knew this was going on for years and just looked the other way. They don’t care and made sure the public didn’t find out until Page Six got their hands on it and started a whole new line of questions.

As Eliot Wolf said, it’s business as usual around the Patriots as they get ready for the season. The schedule comes out Thursday night, and there are rumors they’ll probably open the season in Seattle. I’ll have more on the schedule release when it happens, but they need to start strong.s, but they need to start strong.s, but they need to start strong.s, but they need to start strong.s, but they need to start strong.s, but they need to start strong.
