It’s officially football season, and some fans have reason to be excited. If you’re a Miami Dolphins fan, you may not be one of them. There’s nothing bad to say about them, but then again, there’s also nothing good. They’re literally entering Week 1 with a clean slate. So far, the only thing to get excited for is a fresh start. So what will Week 1 look like for the Dolphins as they take on the Las Vegas Raiders, and how do they walk away with the win?
Run De’Von Run
Remember the old days when the Dolphins relied on their star running back, Ricky Williams, to carry the load for the offense? If you do, you know it worked. With that being said, Miami might not need to lean on De’Von Achane quite like they did with Williams. Still, until this team can prove they’re consistent, the gameplay needs to be: get the ball to one of their playmaker to free up the passing game. Hopefully your front five do as much damage as you hoped. Miami invested heavily in big linemen who could move people. We’ll see if it pays off.
Contain Cousins
The 2025 version of the Raiders saw their top receiver (Tre Tucker)only catch for 696 yards. Brock Bowers was close, but he only caught passes for 680 yards. The next guy after that? Less than 400 yards. But don’t sleep on the Raiders. Geno Smith might be good, but he’s no Kirk Cousins. The reins will be handed over to a QB with a live arm who’s willing to take chances. More often than not, it pays off. New players in new positions, coached by a new staff, are facing a craft vet. Miami has to be disruptive on defense and keep Cousins from getting into a rhythm. They won’t have Bowers in this game, so pressure on the QB is a must. Without being able to dump it to your big TE, rushed throws could lead to mistakes.
Make A Name
A young team with plenty of rookies, some free agent signees that were cast off, and a QB who was barely given a fair chance will all be looking to put their stamp on the Miami Dolphins. So will the head coach, and if that all goes to plan, the GM will have put his stamp on the team. Hungry needs to be the motto this season. No matter what the situation is, play like you’re making a statement to the rest of the NFL. Not wild and undisciplined, but fast and free. Everyone is writing your team off this season. It’s up to the 53 men on this team to prove them wrong.
No one is giving the Miami Dolphins half a chance this season, and that’s okay. The organization has been through it before. However, if they can establish a tempo and energy, they can make it work. Power rankings don’t mean a thing in week 1 of the season. Go out and get that W.
