The Miami Dolphins seem to be headed for, at the very least, a soft reboot if not a full-on reset. In 2025, the team saw their winless playoff streak extended another year, their GM fired, and a handful of other setbacks. Looking back on the season, what were some of the best (and worst) moments
The Highs
De’Von Achane
If there was a player who embodies what the Miami Dolphins are about, it’s Achane. Going back to the days of Larry Czonka to the Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown years, the Dolphins have a history of great running backs. Achane is carrying on that tradition. He’s a strong runner, finishes hard, and is near the top of the NFL in rushing yards this season. The offense hasn’t always fired on all cylinders, but Achane definitely has.
Jordyn Brooks
Even though he was snubbed for the Pro Bowl this season, Brooks has been one of the top defenders. With 2 games left in the season, he needed 31 tackles to be the first player in the NFL to hit 200 tackles since 1994. Unfortunately, he would get injured against the Bucs, and now he is questionable against the Patriots. Still, the guy is all over the field with a Zach Thomas-like presence. Miami has struggled to find consistent linebacker play, but Brooks has been that guy.
Strong Draft Class
While the team struggled to get a winning season, there have been some positives. Miami had a strong draft class filled with guys who ended up contributing more than expected. Players such as Kenneth Gran
The Lows
The injuries to the Miami Dolphins definitely derailed a large part of their season. The Dolphins were one of the top teams with players on injured reserve for the season. Starters such as Tyreek Hill, Storm Duck, Jason Sanders, and Kader Kohou missed a large part of, if not all of, 2025. Despite struggling to find players who could contribute, one has to wonder what the season would have looked like if the team ever got healthy.
New Year, New GM
It has been far too long since the Miami Dolphins have had a new GM. No shade at Chris Grier, but he joined the Dolphins in 2000, and the team’s record since then is 203-217. He became the GM almost 10 years ago, and the team is 77-80. As one of the NFL’s longest tenured GMs, to be given that long of a leash and have zero playoff wins, it was time. The Dolphins cannot settle for mediocrity anymore.
Tanked With Tua
It wasn’t too long ago that Miami Dolphins fans wanted to “tank for Tua” and draft the then-Alabama QB. After a phenomenal 2023, the team gave the young QB an extension. Fast forward to 2025, and they seem to be headed toward a breakup. The Dolphins benched Tua with 3 games left to go in favor of Quinn Ewers. Tua has definitely contributed to the team’s struggles and seems to have lost his passion to play. It will take a lot to repair that relationship if he remains on the roster in 2026.
