Maryland was three-quarters of the way to winning their fifth game. The Huskies scored 24 unanswered points in the second half Saturday. Since then, the Terrapins, as a team—from the players to the coaching staff—have been put in a “box.” Most considered Washington a must-win game (the fifth game of the season).
This weekend, the Terrapins are back at SECU against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Terps have so far been one of four teams not to allow a team to score on their first drive. Nebraska, Oregon, and Minnesota are the others. The team did post its seventh shutout in the first half against Washington. The team has to find ways to play a complete game. FACT: This is also the first time Maryland has blanked two Big Ten opponents in the first half of any two games in a season since joining the conference.
Nathan’s Preview
Which Offense shows up on Saturday?
Nebraska is genuinely and unexpectedly quite appealing! They accomplished what was necessary in the first three weeks of the season. Dylan Raiola has been consistent as a passer and rarely makes mistakes. The problem? There are some dents in the armor for both teams. The two programs have only played four times, with Nebraska leading 3-1. For Maryland’s defense, it is worth noting that Dylan Raiola has been sacked 15 times so far this season as the Terps lead the Big Ten in sacks with 19.
The Cornhuskers’ defense could give the Terps Problems.
Maryland’s main issue in the second half of Saturday? They moved away from the Run Game and went to a conservative approach. The run game has been the weakness for the Terrapins this season. The offensive line has given Malik Washington the time he needs
The Run Game Breakout?
Cincinnati, Michigan, and Michigan State kept the Huskers in check on the ground game. Maryland just has not found it yet…both teams are identical in offensive style of play. The question is, who bends? Who breaks? If the Terps play a complete game, they should get a win.
