Everything is fine now Mac Jones will be the starter on Sunday against the Jets. Is this a get-on-back kind of game? ? Or is it Mac’s job on the line? This year hasn’t gotten off to the greatest start and I’ve hammered Bill Belichick and his offensive coaching staff since before the season began. Think about it this is the first season when the Patriots don’t have Tom Brady or Josh McDaniels and the offense is in shambles. I will never understand why Belichick brought Joe Judge who ruined Daniel Jones in New York and Matt Patricia who ruined Matt Stafford with the Lions to run this Patriots offense. As I said now the Giants are in first place with a new coach and Stafford has won a Super Bowl. There is only one common denominator.
Mac Jones Gets To Redeem Himself Sunday
If Mac falls on his face and the Patriots fall to 3-4 on the season then it is a fact Bill Belichick, Matt Patricia, and Joe Judge have failed Mac Jones. Their season is on the line Sunday because we are just about halfway through it believe it or not. The Patriot’s losing Sunday is a possibility because the Jets are 5-2 and just beat the Packers in Green Bay. They aren’t scared of anybody. The coaching staff needs to be calling play-action and less shotgun for Mac on Sunday. Short passes and get the ball moving. None of this shotgun 50/50 ball nonsense. Bill Belichick wasn’t committed he would stay with Jones after this week. Only that he was the starter for this week’s game.
Bill’s Friend Michael Lombardi Doesn’t Like Mac Jones
Bill Belichick’s mouthpiece Michael Lombardi had some words for Mac Jones on his Podcast this week called “The GM Shuffle with Michael Lombardi.” This is what he said which I will put in quotes then put my opinion next to it. “If Mac Jones keeps throwing interceptions he’s not going to play anymore.” Does Lombardi not realize that the play calling is different for Zappe and Jones and Patricia wants Jones to throw the 50/50 balls. The interceptions are on coaching.
“When Mac does dumb things on the field, he takes his play from a 64 to a 56.” Again, Lombardi doesn’t realize without a real offensive coordinator Jones doesn’t have the right coaching. Funny how he doesn’t mention anything about the success of last year with McDaniels.
“The reason Bailey Zappe has this fan base and following is because he played good.” What Lombardi doesn’t mention is he played good against the Lions and Browns the two worst teams in the league. Then sucked in the second half of Bear’s game. Also, the plays were different, and they were running some trick plays and play-action. Why doesn’t Lombardi mention that? “All we heard all summer long was there no design to the offense and excuses. Your job is to run the offense not critique the offense.” Why Lombardi doesn’t blame Belichick for bringing these two clowns to coach Mac is beyond me. It’s a second-year quarterback and his coordinators are coaches who have never coached on that side of the ball. Why shouldn’t he question it?
Mac is ready to go on Sunday this is what he said on Wednesday.
Again, big game Sunday and the recap can only go one or two ways. maybe getting on the right track or falling off the rails.
