Kansas City Chiefs – Weapons Galore

The Kansas City Chiefs and the amount of options Patrick Mahomes has at his disposal is simply an abundance of riches. This is no longer the team that relied upon Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, with sporadic contributions from others. Add in the offensive play-calling wizardry of Andy Reid then sit back and enjoy Mahomes go to work.

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to be headed towards a 5th straight AFC Championship game appearance and as good as Mahomes has been in the previous 4 games, this time he is bringing a far more dangerous offense. 7th-round draft pick Isiah Pacheco is just one of the reasons this Chiefs’ offense still was hitting on all cylinders against the Los Angeles Chargers despite not having wide receivers Mercole Hardman or JuJu Smith-Schuster. The rookie from Rutgers has taken over as the RB1 from Clyde Edwards-Helaire. In his last two games, Pacheco is averaging 6.1 yards per carry, well above the league average.

On a night where KC was missing several weapons, the collective group stepped up in a big way. In fact, three players set career-bests in receiving yards:

🏈 Skyy Moore (5 catches for 63 yards)

🏈 Justin Watson (3 catches for 67 yards)

🏈 Jody Fortson (2 catches for 51 yards)

If you take the field for this Chiefs offense Patrick Mahomes is going to find you sooner or later. Defenses simply cannot cover everyone and the Chargers especially this season haven’t been able to cover Mahomes number one option in Travis Kelce. Skyy Moore has just 7 catches in his rookie season, he came close to matching that total against the Chargers.

Travis Kelce has 11TDs more than any wide receiver (Davante Adams 10 TDs) He has broken the record for 100 yard games by a tight end (33 games) Gronkowski (32) Gonzalez (31) tied Gonzalez with his 3rd season of more than 10 TDs in a season. At age 33 he is showing no signs of slowing down. With his big brother Jason Kelce still playing at a high level for the Philadelphia Eagles, one has to ask if they aren’t best pair of brothers to play in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes has played in only 2 more regular season games in his career than Josh Allen has YET has 5,080 more passing yards, 53 more passing TDs, 12 fewer INTs and 307 more 1st downs.

All of that in only 2 more games. pic.twitter.com/7hRWAJMAdz

Sorry Bills fans and Samuel Acho, those are the real numbers comparing Josh Allen with Patrick Mahomes is a silly exercise. Josh Allen is a very good NFL quarterback, but he sure has a long way to go to catch up with Mahomes. All I can say is you better hope the Chiefs defense has a terrible game or that this offense beats themselves. If those two things don’t happen I don’t give anyone much of a chance against this juggernaut Kansas City Chiefs roster. Dynasties are supposed to be impossible in the salary cap era. The Chiefs are already a dynasty and it looks like they will be trailing the New England Patriots insane 8 straight AFC Championship games by three when the 2022 playoffs come around.
