Jacoby Brissett Is Great For Drake Maye

The upcoming season for the Patriots might be a tough one. The schedule is pretty tough and it looks like they’ll be some adversity to begin the year. The Patriots will probably start Jacoby Brissett to begin the season. Drake Maye will be getting developed this season and could sit for most of it. I don’t think Maye will play this year.

Is it Brissett’s job to mentor Drake Maye? No, however, he is a respected quarterback and isn’t going to push away Maye when he has a question. Brissett knows his place and is a good teammate. Now, the toxic backup they have in Zappe needs to go but other than that I’m fine with Brissett, Mixon, and Maye.

OTA’s start on Monday and Jacoby Brissett is ready.

“I mean, I think when I was here the first time, you realize everybody’s your mentor that’s older than you in this league or have more experience in, and I hope I’m that for more than just Drake in being a helping person for players on this team. When people ask that to other guys, I don’t understand the bad part. I’m a teammate first, and I hope I can be a good teammate to not only him, but to everybody on his team.

Eliot Wolf and Jerod Mayo signed Brissett to be the starting quarterback this season. They want to prove to Belichick they can properly develop a quarterback. If you play Maye that’s the same thing Belichick did with Mac Jones. I think it’s a Jordan Love development just I think Drake Maye starts in 2025.

Jacoby Brissett talked about the Alex Van Pelt offense

“It’s about the players, and he understands that. He kind of molds it around the guys that we have on our team. Obviously, playing the position and having the experience a lot of other places where he was successful at as a coordinator, it’s always been about the players, and I think he does a really good job of that, and it’s becoming evident every day that we come to work. He’s obviously installed in our offense, but understanding the big picture is like, we’re going to plug and play our players where it fits their strong suit.”

By the time the season starts I don’t think Zappe will make the team. He isn’t fit for a rookie quarterback because himself and delusional Patriot fans want Zappe to be the franchise quarterback. He isn’t good. The Patriots next franchise quarterback is Drake Maye with Jacoby as the bridge.

“Yeah, I mean, he’s got a lot of talent. He can make all the throws. He wants to learn football. He wants to get better. And that’s what you want, not only your quarterback, but anybody on the team. I’m excited to work with him. I remember my… Well, he’s 21. I was 22, 23, but I remember that when I was following Tom around. Anywhere I can learn, he’s already texting me about plays, and how do I think about this, and cadence, and stuff like that. Just all the little nuances of being in this position at this level.”
