Are there sports played in your state? If you can answer that with a yes, then there should be mobile sports betting allowed there too. Gone are the days of the mob running things in either Atlantic City or Las Vegas. Nowadays, everything is done from either a laptop or the palm of our hands. So why are there still states in the United States where mobile sports betting is not legal?
Imagine New York saying no Ubers are allowed there. Or Florida making a law to ban all McDonald’s. Yes, it’s a bit extreme but this is what it’s like for sports gamblers. You’re taking away something we love just because you can.
Let’s be fair here, where is the harm?
I can understand the logic behind the addiction but what state does not sell alcohol, tobacco, or even lottery tickets? What this boils down to is money. Each state that elects to bring mobile sports gambling into their state earns a certain percentage. Politicians are just greedy. But think about what that money can do for your schools, communities, and more. This is the same approach states had to take with the lottery.
As a gambler living in NYC, I hate when I have to travel to another state that doesn’t allow mobile gambling. What if you’re a family person and the kids want to go to Disney World right in the middle of the season? Well, sad news there, Florida is one of the many states that does not allow mobile sports betting. Another reason this is tragic is that states like Florida, California, and Georgia are high-volume tourist states and the people are missing out.
Is Mobile Sports Betting Legal In Texas, Florida, or California
Here are the states where you can wager bets on sportsbooks such as Fanduel, Cesear, BetMGM, Draftkings, and others. Arizona, Connecticut, Louisiana, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wyoming, and Kansas.
It’s a start, right? Remember, at one point alcohol wasn’t legal either. But still, there are people who want to wager on their favorite sports and just can’t. While states such as Georgia and Florida are right at the door ready to pass the law, there have been hiccups along the way.
Mobile sports gambling went live in NY in January of 2022. And in 6 months, the state has collected $302M in Tax Revenue.
Now, let’s be real here. There are sites where you can still bet if you live in those non-mobile sports betting states but there are still restrictions on what you can’t and cannot do. You can use sites like BetUs, Bravado, and BetOnline. They work anywhere in the US. But once again, they are not the same as the popular sportsbooks out there.
In a country where almost everything is legal like marijuana, mobile sports betting is still outlawed in places. Someone, please make this make sense. It’s time for these lawmakers to get their act together.
