So Bailey Zappe has a good first half against the Steelers and all of a sudden Bill Belichick’s job is saved. The second half was back to the same old offense and if it wasn’t for the false start penalty in the fourth quarter that should’ve been called offsides on the Patriots the Steelers could’ve either won or tied the game. Meanwhile, Mac Jones is left in a corner by himself after a bad season and has PTSD from last year. He feels imitated by Bill Belichick it is like he’s walking on eggshells every time he’s out on the field scared to make a mistake or he’ll get benched.
Mac’s confidence is at an all-time low it’s so bad that he doesn’t feel like he should be around the stadium on an important weekend. Army V Navy was played Saturday and the Patriots social media team released a video of players picking who they thought would win. Quarterbacks Malik Cunningham practice squad and Bailey Zappe were in the video. Mac Jones wasn’t. During the game itself Zappe was seen at the game Mac wasn’t.
Does Kraft think Belichick Ruined Mac Jones?
I don’t blame Mac honestly. Why should he show his face and do extra when the fans, Belichick, and some of the players don’t want him as the starter. He got booed and the fans were chanting for Zappe during the Bears game on Monday Night Football.
I can tell you right now who are Zappe guys. Ezekiel Elliott, JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker are all Zappe guys. Even former Patriot Jack Jones keeps tweeting things about Zappe every time he starts. Hunter Henry is a Mac guy but did have a good game against the Steelers. It was also his birthday so he wanted to put on a good game.
JuJu Smith-Schuster Has Been Useless For Mac All Season
JuJu Smith-Schuster who’s been useless when Mac has been in the games was great against his former team in the first half. Zappe isn’t going to settle for being a backup he wants to be a starter. He’s super overconfident which probably gets on Mac’s nerves cause he knows Belichick would rather have Zappe over him.
Does the owner still believe in Mac? That’s a question that we’ll probably find out in the off-season. Here is what Kraft said on College GameDay on Saturday
We like to win, so we want to do everything we can to get our team back so we can be winning it.”
Regardless if you get rid of Belichick or not there is no way Jones is on the Patriots in 2024. The damage by the Patriots has been done and then some. Like I said they won’t even show him on video the social media team puts out for the Army V Navy game. It’s crazy how fast Jones has fallen.
Kraft endless times has talked about the development of Mac Jones as important. Getting Bill O’Brien was supposed to help but had no legit number one receiver. You can say what about the other night? Yeah, great first half and then it went down the drain the second half. The Patriots didn’t score a point in the second half. That isn’t gonna fly against the Chiefs they’ll lose.
