The Miami Heat have a record of 18-18. Normally, that would be disappointing for a team that made it to the NBA Finals in the previous season. But there is optimism for this organization. The Heat have won 7 of their last 10 games and they are starting to get healthy. This team should be a force to be reckoned with come playoff time.

Mid-Season Grades:

Bam Adebayo (A):

Bam has played in 33 of the Heat’s 36 games. He is averaging 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. He has been Miami’s utility man. He has gotten better every season and his presence is felt on offense and defense.

Jimmy Butler (B+):

Butler is finally getting healthy after missing 10 games because of NBA’s protocol to COVID-19, He is averaging 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Butler has thrived as one of the leaders on this Miami team. When he is healthy, The Heat is one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

Tyler Herro (B):

Herro has started 14 of 25 games. It does not matter if he is starting or coming off the bench, the young guard continues to contribute. He is averaging 15 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. He has proven to be a clutch performer in the 4th quarter as well.

Kendrick Nunn (B-):

Nunn is finally starting to look like the player he was last season before the NBA Bubble. I admire his professional approach. No matter what his role, he is ready to play, and his confidence is growing. I expect him to play a lot more minutes the 2nd half of the season.

Duncan Robinson (C+):

Duncan has played in all 36 Heat games. He is averaging 12 points and 3 assists per game. When he gets hot, he can carry a team through a quarter, a half, or an entire game. He needs to do other things on the court and become a more complete player.

Kelly Olynyk (C+):

Olynyk has played in 35 games and is averaging 26 minutes per contest. He provides the Heat with long range shooting from the Center of Power Forward position.

Goran Dragic (C):

There is no doubt that when Dragic is healthy, he is still a great point guard. Unfortunately, for Miami, Goran has not been healthy. In 22 games he has averaged 15 points and 5 assists. When he is healthy, they are a much better team.

Andre Iguodala (C-):

Iguodala can still hit the clutch three-point shot and still be a very good defender.

Avery Bradley (Incomplete):

I had high expectations for Bradley when he signed with the Heat. Unfortunately, he has only played in 10 games. When Bradley is healthy, he is a very good two-way player.

Erik Spoelstra (B):

Spo finally got to the NBA Finals last year, without LeBron James. He has done a good job of keeping this team together despite their stars missing games.
