Over the past 12 weeks, I have written 12 articles titled PDF. That stands for the Packers, Dolphins, and Falcons preview. The Matchup this week deserves its own writeup. This is the game of the week and could be the game of the year.
(8-3) Miami Dolphins at (7-4) San Francisco:
Time: 4:05 PM
TV: Fox
Betting line: San Francisco is favored by 4.5 points.
Miami has won 5 games in a row since Tua Tagovailoa has come back from injury. Since being knocked unconscious vs. the Bengals, Tua has thrown for 1,230 yards,10 touchdowns and, 0 interceptions. Over the past 4 week’s the Dolphins have averaged 35.5 points per game. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to continue to put up legendary numbers. The wide receiver duo has 143 catches, over 2100 yards and,10 touchdowns. Miami is second in passing yards and 6th in points per game. Their defense has not been great but they have made plays when the have to. Adding Bradley Chubb at the trade deadline has helped them put pressure on the quarterback.
San Francisco has won 4 straight games. The acquisition of running back Christian McCaffrey has helped this team become more productive and more explosive. Jimmy Garoppolo is completing 67% of his passes and has 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Brandon Aiyuk is leading the team with receptions with 51 catches and Deebo Samuel has 44 catches on the year. SF is 5th in the NFL on 3rd down conversions.
Joey Bosa is one of the leaders on a great defense. Below are their defensive stats.
- 301.9 yards per game, ranked 1st.
- 79.5 rushing yards per game, ranked 1st.
- 15.7 points per game, ranked 1st.
Prediction:
This is a classic matchup of speed vs power. The Dolphins want to throw the ball all over the field and take advantage of their elite WR’s. The 49ers want to play smash-mouth football on both sides of the ball. Their defense just shut out a New Orleans Saints team that has not been held scoreless in 332 straight games. The last time that happened to the Saints was on Jan. 6, 2002.
Will the student become the teacher? Mike McDaniel was the 49ers running game coordinator for Kyle Shanahan from 2017-2022. In 2021 he was their offensive coordinator before becoming the Dolphins head coach. I am 110-46 picking NFL games on The Full Monte Sports Show. I am taking speed here and riding on the Tua bandwagon train. He has not lost this season as a starter. McDaniel will come up with a great game plan to keep the 49ers pass rushers confused and look for Waddle to have a huge game. This is strictly an emotional pick…
Dolphins 33… 49ers…27
