No matter what the Miami Dolphins do on the field, it starts off the field. Head coach Mike McDaniel has empowered his players to hold each other accountable this season, but will it turn into success for the future. One of the biggest hurdles the Dolphins have yet to fix is the culture surrounding the team.
Stick The Picks
Despite 2025 being arguably their best draft in years, producing players who are making the most impact, Miami still has holes to fill. Plenty of this year’s draft picks have made their stamp on their time with the team. Now they need to consistently do the same with the next 2-3 drafts. Plenty of players were found late in camp that contributed when players went down, they need to do that with their next 2-3 free agent periods. They don’t need to go out and blow money as if it were burning a hole in their shallow pockets, but they need to get guys who can step in and immediately take on the team culture.
Honor The Past
It’s hard in this day and age of football, with social media and all, to get players who understand what it means to be part of a historic organization. Despite what seems like 2 decades of bad football, the Miami Dolphins are still one of the winningest franchises of Super Bowl era. They’re the only team that has an undefeated season with a Super Bowl victory. They’re following in the footsteps of some of the greats. It’s time to start acting like it. Miami doesn’t just need a handful of players who make the Pro Bowl, they need guys who are trying to solidify their spots next to the greats in the Honor Roll. 17 players for the Miami Dolphins have made the Hall of Fame and 27 their Honor Roll. There’s plenty of room for more.
Football First
Well, technically family first, then football, but let’s not nitpick. The Miami Dolphins need a bunch of guys who want to go out and make the best of their time on the football field. No distractions outside of the locker room. No breaking news stories. None of the things that bring unnecessary attention to the football team. That’s what the Dolphins need. Nothing distracts a team more than things having nothing to do with football, taking their minds off football. Too much noise surrounds this team in the offseason and it needs to change.
The Miami Dolphins have a long history in the NFL that has turned out some of the greatest players at their positions. How do they recapture this going forward? It’s time to get a GM who understands that character matters just as much as skill on the field. The Miami Dolphins have always had talent, but now it’s time to turn it into a winning franchise.
