All the way back in October, I dropped a “holiday gift guide” reviewing the Papatui Me’s Skincare line with what few items I was able to pick up. Despite only being able to try a few of the products, I found the value in the ones I was able to try out. Now that their product line is growing and they’ve expanded to be more available to consumers, it’s time to take a look at the products I wasn’t able to try:
Hydrating Facial Cleanser 4/5
Finding a good facial cleanser can be hard. Plenty come out strong out of the gate but leave your face feeling a bit dry and agitated. It should be noted that this facial cleanser is fragrance-free and for only $10 it is a fair value. It builds up a good lather and doesn’t leave your face feeling doused in chemicals. The only downside is wishing it didn’t dispense such a small amount with multiple pumps to receive a dime-sized application.
Refreshing Body Wash 5/5
The body wash I bought in two separate bottles. No, I wasn’t trying to splurge but between two different scents and two different dispensers, I wanted to get a true feel of which I like better. The choices were a squeeze bottle or the pump and the scents were Lush Coconut and Vanilla Bean. The winners were the pump style and Vanilla Bean. Something about that scent stuck with me and not in a bad way.
Ageless Action Exfoliating Facial Scrub 4/5
Made with “volcanic ash” the facial scrub was the most impressive thing out of the line. Sure, the rating may say otherwise, but that has nothing to do with the facial scrub, I’ll get to that. When it comes to an exfoliating scrub, does anyone else feel like they’re rubbing coarse sand all over their face? I understand the purpose of trying to get deep within your pores, but most of them are so aggressive that they agitate the skin. Not here. Their scrub has similar elements to it, but a smoother texture while applying. The only issue I have is wishing it came in a larger amount and not a squeeze bottle. Squeeze out too much and you’re forcing yourself to rub in any extra while too little you’re double dipping. If it were in a tub the same way their tattoo balm is, it would be a different story.
Restoring Daily Facial Moisturizer 4/5
This one is a bit different from their 24-hour body lotion and thus was worth giving a try. Another product for your face, and again it’s another that’s difficult to get right. However, the same thing that can be said about the facial cleanser can be said about the moisturizer. It goes on smoothly, doesn’t feel as harsh, and is fragrance-free. It does dispense smaller amounts as well but doesn’t exactly need to be heavily applied for success.
Ageless Action Under Eye Patch (6pk) 5/5
This was the biggest test for me. As I previously wrote, I wasn’t a huge fan of the applicator for their Eye Awakening Gel. These under-eye patches work similarly with only 10 minutes of use time. Just apply the two stick-ons to your face, wait 10 minutes, and peel them off to reduce puffiness. Don’t worry how silly it makes you look unless you’re in public, then just pretend you’re on the local football team.
Future Product Request:
Beard care:
This is one of the most oversaturated markets in men’s care, yet still, somehow most of them don’t get it right. Everything from beard softeners to beard oils, and beard balms, and still most of them leave your face itchy or oily as if you’re in your puberty years all over. Any man with a beard will tell you despite the huge presence in the market, there’s no greater need than beard care products that don’t agitate your facial hair.
SPF skincare:
Women’s care has figured out what men have yet to. If you want skincare that defies age, you also need it to protect from the sun. Yes, we all love our darker complexions and don’t want to overdo it, but a light sunscreen with your daily moisturizer can go a long way. It doesn’t need to be an SPF 50 or anything crazy like that, but if you’re going to get into skincare, you also need to consider what damages skin the most.
That’s it, so far that’s the majority of the line I’ve been able to test. The only thing left on the is the Men’s Deodorant and as someone who sweats a ton, I typically go with the antiperspirant. Papatui has a few bundles listed on their site as well as gift cards if you’re looking for a last-minute gift for Dad.
