The New York Jets are coming to play the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon and they may be minus Aaron Rodgers who left the game after taking four snaps in his debut game for the New York Jets. Let’s look at this game.
Dallas Cowboys Defense
What more could ask for as a Cowboys fan than what you saw the Dallas Cowboys defense do to the New York Giants? Personally, I was hoping to see them get to beat Aaron Rodgers and instead, it appears the Dallas Cowboys will get to face Zach Wilson.
After putting up 7 sacks 3 interceptions including one that went for a touchdown and a blocked field goal as well as forcing 5 fumbles and giving up ZERO points the Dallas Cowboys defense is the number one unit in the NFL after week one.
This is why I am so disappointed that Rodgers was injured. I really wanted to see that man crushed by the Dallas Cowboys defense. I really can’t stand Aaron Rodgers off the field or on it and I’ve been honest about that fact for years and years.
Instead, the Dallas Cowboys will face Zach “Milf Mania” Wilson. I hope the Cowboys don’t take the Jets lightly as they did the last time they faced each other. Do you want to be the “Doomsday Defense III?” is the question I wish to ask Micah Parsons Trevon Diggs and the rest of this defense. If you want to be that then you best come out of that tunnel at AT&T Stadium as on fire as you played against the New York Giants.
The New York Jets welcomed back Breece Hall and the young man showed he still has explosiveness after returning from his ACL injury including a spectacular 83-yard run. So the Dallas Cowboys’ defense needs to stop the running game and force Zach Wilson into throwing the football.
The New York Jets playcaller is Nathaniel Hackett the former head coach of the Denver Broncos who was brought to New York to rejoin Aaron Rodgers. He called a different game with Zach Wilson in at quarterback and they played decently, especially in their ground game.
I still don’t believe that this New York Jets offensive line can handle the speed and the ferocity of the Dallas Cowboys pass rush.
Dallas Cowboys Offense
Certainly wasn’t a banner performance in the rainy conditions at Met Life Stadium and the play of Dak Prescott was affected by the weather. However, Dak Prescott joined Aaron Rodgers as the only two NFL quarterbacks in history to throw for over 25,000 yards passing and to rush for over 1,500 yards rushing the football in their first 100 games.
I expect the “Texas Coast Offense” to play much better at home. Although the New York Jets’ defense is talented can they stop Ceedee Lamb Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup? I was impressed by how the Cowboys used Kevontae Turpin in the passing and in the running game as well as against the New York Giants.
Tony Pollard only carried the ball 14 times which is right around my magic number for him in any game which is 17 carries. Pollard scored two touchdowns in the 40-0 bashing of the Giants.
Head coach Mike McCarthy loved calling the first game back as the play-caller for the Dallas Cowboys and we saw the stunted version of the “Texas Coast Offense’ thanks to the nasty weather.
I’m really excited to see what this Dallas Cowboys offense can show us inside their home stadium.
My Prediction
As I wrote in my article detailing how the 2023 NFL season will go for the Dallas Cowboys I certainly had the team beating the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers. It looks like I need to settle on just beating the J-E-T-S. I have the Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Jets by a score of 31 to 10 although a second shutout is highly unlikely that would suit me just fine of course.
