Caitlin Clark has been one of the best players in college basketball for a reason. Her versatility, demeanor, and swagger allow her to be the best player on the floor. After yet a successful regular season with the University of Iowa, Clark is ready for bigger heights. She has led her team to a position to ultimately win a National Championship.
Aside from great talents like Aliyah Boston, Olivia Miles, Haley Jones, and a few others, Caitlin Clark is one of the best college players in the country. Her numbers speak for themselves and she understands how to control the game from multiple perspectives. What allows Clark to be exciting to watch is her prolific scoring. From the perimeter, she can be unconscious as she can drain long-range shots in transition. Clark’s shooting ability can make her a matchup nightmare for defenders.
The passion that Clark plays with is unbelievable. She has a winner’s spirit and shows her fearlessness to make winning plays on the floor. Sometimes it isn’t the long-range three that she’ll make to get fans out of their seats. Clark will make the right read to a perfect pass to a teammate or also getting a key steal from interrupting passing lanes. Through her three seasons at Iowa, Clark has continued to lead by example on the floor and her demeanor has influenced the rest of her team.
Throughout the season, Caitlin Clark continued to be the star standout in the Big 10. She averaged 27.2 points during the season along with 8.2 assists on 47 percent shooting. As expected, she’s delivered monster-scoring performances that led Iowa to big wins. One game that stands out is her 45-point performance against NC State. Despite the loss, Clark was still able to steal the show with her prolific scoring from the perimeter. There were several possessions where she displayed her skillset with attacking and scoring in single coverage. In the contest, Clark shot 57 percent and dished four assists.
The Caitlin Clark Saga continued through the course of the season. The team continued to succeed as she continued to display monster performances. In the final contest against the Indiana Hoosiers, it was a performance where people witnessed Clark unleash her full potential. Going against the best team in the Big 10 means the team has to be fully prepared for what their opponent has to offer. The Hoosiers have so many weapons that can produce at a high level and their communication on both ends is to-tier. On February 9, the Hawkeyes took an 87-78 loss to the Hoosiers on the road. With the second meeting being on their home floor, it was bound to become a big performance from Caitlin Clark.
Scoring 34 points while making the game-winning three-point basket is almost the perfect performance from Caitlin Clark. Let’s also not forget to mention that she was one rebound and one assist away from a triple-double. It was another contest where Clark and the Hawkeyes had to overcome adversity through the contest. However, having a superstar-caliber player was what allowed the Hawkeyes to prevail in the last regular season matchup.
The Hawkeyes may have not been crowned Big 10 regular season champions. However, the program has a chance to make noise as the Conference Tournament. The big question is can Iowa overcome tough matchups like Indiana, Ohio State, and Maryland in the tournament? With Caitlin Clark, anything is possible. As she continues to run the show, the Hawkeyes will be in a position for more success as March is underway. This is the time of year when we as basketball fans sit back and enjoy the show.
