Bosch is simply put a great police drama. This series was aired from 2014 to 2021 and is now followed by Bosch: Legacy. This is another great TV series that comes courtesy of Amazon Studios which as of this year is now Amazon MGM Studios.
Harry Bosch’s home is magnificent as is the sorry of how he owns this Hollywood home.
Thanks to the writers’ strike and the actors still being out on strike I had the chance to watch this series and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Harry Bosch is such an interesting character and is portrayed by Titus Welliver who portrays as a cop haunted by his own demons who goes against authority without crossing the line that so many police officers do in the real world.
From the opening of the series when Harry Bosch goes alone and follows a prime suspect he ends up being cleared by the LAPD correctly so. However, he lost a civil rights case for $1.00 and that’s thanks to an attorney Honey “Money” Chandler a noted civil rights attorney and one of the best roles I’ve ever seen Mimi Rogers play.
When faced with a serial killer who is obsessed with Harry Bosch’s life growing up in the foster care system and whose own mother was murdered as she was a prostitute you see the deep hurt of Harry Bosch and his existence. Bosch was also a U.S. Army Special Forces who served in the First Gulf War and again in Afghanistan after 9/11. You see a man troubled by his past but one who has a deep sense of right from wrong.
The flashbacks to Harry Bosch as a twelve-year-old are played by Titus Welliver’s own son Quinn. These flashback scenes drive the Harry Bosch we see in every episode. No matter the problems facing Harry Bosch and he has so many to deal with you see a man who will always stand up for what’s right and that’s the life lesson offered up when you watch Bosch or Bosch: Legacy.
Chief Irvin Irving
Lance Riddick is no longer with us as he passed away on March 17th, 2023 and it saddens me to know this great actor won’t be seen anymore. His portrayal of the LAPD Chief of Police was astounding in Bosch and he will be greatly missed on Bosch: Legacy when the show returns for its second season.
Even with his numerous disputes with Harry Bosch when he needs a detective to take over a case be it on or off the books (including when his own son as a police officer is killed) Riddick’s majesty of the screen is absolutely magnificent to watch. Just as well known from his previous work.
Bosch: Legacy
This series started in 2022 and of course, has been interrupted from airing its second and third seasons which Amazon Studios already has on their books. His relationship with his own daughter played by Madison Lintz who is now an LAPD officer as Bosch left the LAPD after a dispute with Chief Irving sees Bosch now as a private detective. One who still takes on every case with the same fervor he displayed as an LAPD detective.
I’m not one who takes to very many new TV shows however both Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have me hooked as a viewer. I highly recommend watching the first series and I am looking forward to seeing Private Detective Harry Bosch carry on beating criminals while still being himself. It’s no easy task to keep me viewing a TV show in this era where so many shows don’t hold my interest for seven seasons of Bosch and now after the first season of Bosch: Legacy.
I won’t give away Harry Bosch’s relationship with Honey “Money” Chandler but it’s truly a great experience to watch two opponents who really hold each other with such high regard yet are on two opposing viewpoints (Not always mind you.)
So dear actors please settle your strike soon because I need more of Harry Bosch.
