Belichick Didn’t Let Bill O’Brien Pick His Coaches

Last January Bill Belichick didn’t want to move on from Matt Patricia and Joe Judge to run the offense. Instead, he caved and listened to Robert Kraft who wanted him to bring in Bill O’Brien. Belichick cooperated and got O’Brien to be the offensive coordinator but didn’t allow him to bring in any assistant coaches except one. Tight ends coach Will Lawing who was with O’Brien with the Houston Texans.

Bill O’Brien was restricted in what he could do.

Instead, Belichick hired Adrian Klemm who got into a shouting match with Director of Player Personal Matt Groh. Klemm who played for Belichick in 2000 didn’t get along with O’Brien and the rest of the offensive coaching staff according to the Boston Herald. Also, because O’Brien didn’t get to hire his own assistants, he held full offensive meetings with everyone instead of the positional coaches having meetings with their players.

Then Belichick once again sabotaged the offense and Mac Jones period. During free agency he doesn’t sign Jakobi Meyers and went to Marshalls and TJ Maxx to sign players like JuJu Smith-Schuster, gave DeVante Parker an extension, Mike Gesicki. Then went back to the clearance rack again and signed offensive lineman Riley Reiff and Calvin Anderson. Never mind Trent Brown which after the Steelers game said in the locker room, he wants to play on an NFC team on the West Coast next year.

Bill Belichick drafted defense instead of helping Bill O’Brien and the Offense

Then during the NFL Draft Belichick drafted defense, defense, defense, a Chad Ryland who can’t hit an extra point and didn’t draft on offense till the sixth round. Bill Belichick how about drafting a tackle in the first round to help your quarterback? Nope! How about drafting offense in the early part of the draft? Nope! Instead, doing the opposite so Mac really goes off the rails and has to get benched towards the end of the season.

No the Zappe thing still would’ve sucked if he started sooner. The delusional Zappe crew thinking the Patriots would be .500 with Trent Brown doing half ass and no receivers. They’d have one or two more wins that’s it you would still suck. He’s also inconsistent.

Belichick caused the division so much in the locker room that Zappe and Jones don’t even have a stable relationship. They don’t even give each other the time of day. Why should they? Their head coach basically put a wedge between them doing what he’s done the last two years. Zappe thinks he’s Tom Brady out there and Mac wasn’t surrounded with talent to succeed.

Robert Kraft said at the owner’s meetings he brought Bill O’Brien to help the development of Mac Jones. Belichick said yeah sure but I’m not going to do anything to help him. Belichick undermined the whole thing. Here was Kraft at the owners meetings.

I’m very happy that we were able to bring in a new offensive coordinator to help develop our young quarterback Mac Jones,” Patriots owner Robert Kraft said in a FOX Business interview Friday, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “Bringing in Bill O’Brien has been a big a plus for our franchise. That was done in full cooperation with coach Belichick.
