Since Bel-Air was renewed for a Season 3 early on, the speculation for what should happen next season has begun. Season 2 was much about the Banks family finding their way on individual terms while holding on to the family dynamic. Will was trying to juggle it all and in the process, found a new love interest in Jackie.
For much of the season, the two shared a romance and while her uncle Doc appeared to be shady, Jackie was more on the side of Will than she was her uncle’s. When the truth was finally revealed regarding Doc’s intentions and why he wanted Uncle Phil in his pocket, Will, as usual, got in his feelings and let Jackie walk away. But what if it wasn’t as easy as it appeared to be?
Are Jackie and Will together on Bel Air? Near the end of the Season 2 finale, Jackie showed up at The Founders Awards Banquet and asked Will if they could start over. Right before Will gave his answer, he spotted Lisa and excused himself from the situation. Will followed Lisa into the library where they expressed their feelings for one another and just like that, Jackie was forgotten for the rest of the episode.
Is There A Season 3 Of Bel-Air
Prior to Jackie confessing to Will regarding Doc’s plans, Will and Jackie had sex at Jazz’s place. What if, during the summer break, Jackie finds out she’s pregnant? While that didn’t fit into the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air storyline, this spinoff has found a way to go in its own direction.
Jackie being pregnant with Will’s baby will definitely change things. Now that Will and Lisa are back together, this will be another hurdle for them to conquer. Since Doc seems to be in the good graces of the Banks family and he and Will are on good terms, why would the writers just leave Will and Jackie’s relationship where it’s at? It ended but didn’t end at the same time. Jackie will make a return in Season 3 at some point.
In the original, Will and Lisa didn’t get married. Although they met in college, giving them a high school romance in the spinoff was a great call by the writers. But this could be a reason why they never walk down the aisle or a good reason to test their faith in each other. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago that Will and Lisa shared their own romantic moment together. We never witnessed a Lisa and Jackie standoff in Season 2 but adding a baby to the mix regarding will surely make things interesting in Season 3 of Bel-Air.
Yes, I know kids having babies while still in high school will be a tough sell for the studio heads and it may steer some loyal viewers away from the show but this is not the same family-oriented comedy sitcom it was while on NBC. Maybe now, with a baby, this may force Will to deal with his father and the darkness that’s surrounding them two.
For Jackie, there is still a portion of her story that we don’t know. It’s clear she really likes Will but the way that Will just blew her off, could come back on him. In the early stages, there were questions whether she could be trusted but the truth is, Will was so caught up in his own stuff, that he didn’t see that Jackie did have his back.
Bel-Air has followed some storylines from the original but in the end, it’s a spinoff that has managed to carve out its own lane. Season 3 should up the stakes just a bit more.
