The trailer for Season 2 of Peacock’s hit drama, Bel-Air was released today and to everyone’s surprise, another character from the original Fresh Prince of Bel-Air makes a return. Tatyana Ali will play English teacher, Mrs. Hughes in the new season which is sure to bring delight to Bel-Air fans. But there was more to the trailer than her surprise appearance.
At the conclusion of Season 1, Will was still dealing with the emotions of finding out about his father and the betrayal of his family. He left with Jazz, leaving everyone in the dust with no clues as to where he went. as for the rest of the Banks family, Hillary is still trying to find her independent way. Carlton is still dealing with an identity crisis, Ashley is hiding a secret, and Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv, are dealing with the ups and downs of being successful and black in a place where that’s frowned upon.
Bel-Air will open Season 2 in the same fashion that Season 1 ended, with no one still having answers to their own problems. Will is back to hustling on the baseball courts. Carlton is still fighting and defending his skin and reputation, Hillary is letting people walk over her in business, and Ashley must find a way to be who she wants to be without destroying the image everyone has of her. It’s time for those in the Banks family and Will to grow up.
Bel-Air Turns It Up A Notch In Season 2
The Will and Lisa union appears to be over as Will is seen hugging another female in the trailer. Carlton is still dealing with his anxiety issues and looks to have hit bottom, once again. But one of the biggest takeaways is that Geoffrey is back after giving his notice and leaving the family at the end of the season. Viv and Phil are still at odds concerning his support of her dreams.
Another major storyline that needs more shine this season would be that of Ashley’s. As a young girl still discovering herself and her sexuality, it appears that Ali’s character, Mrs. Hughes takes a liking to the younger Banks child. But at what cost? Will Mrs. Hughes force Ashley out of the closet and into a situation she nor the family is ready for? Or, will she be the one to help mold and guide young Ashley in the direction she needs?
Another surprise was who was not in the trailer. what happened to Will’s father? Where is Lou and will he make a return for season 2 of Bel-Air? There is no way they can end the first season like that with such a cliffhanger and just ignore it for Season 2. we shall see.
